About this house rental

In the village of Casesi, in a private farmyard with rustic houses, there is our house. A rustic typical of the Tuscan countryside restored several times.
On the front there is a small fenced garden with a corner dedicated to aromatic plants and a pergola with grape vines in front of the entrance. The garden is equipped with a table and chairs for breakfast and armchairs for relaxing. From here you can enjoy a beautiful view of the mountains of Camaiore and Garfagnana.
On the ground floor there is an entrance lounge, a large and spacious kitchen with a fireplace, a nice living room with satellite TV and a small bathroom.
A typical terracotta staircase leads to the upper floor where there are three double bedrooms and a bathroom with shower.
The entire house that has been recently renovated is furnished with period furniture. The floors are still in original terracotta, as are the ceilings with the typical wooden beams.
The kitchen is equipped with the main appliances and everything that can be used for cooking. Guests have access to the washing machine located in the cellar. The parking, guaranteed for a car, is on the small square in front of the house, any other cars can be parked a few meters away.

The village of Casesi is a fraction of Corsanico in the municipality of Massarosa. It is a typical ancient village with narrow streets and stone houses. Just a few steps from the house is the recently restored old wash house. It is a very quiet area.
It is the ideal departure point for excursions on foot or by bicycle in the green of our woods and olive groves on the numerous paths that are found in the area.

In the heart of the village there is a grocery store with a bar to buy basic necessities: bread, milk, eggs. All other shops as well as the post office, church, pharmacy, restaurant are located in the center of Corsanico at about 800 m.

Nearby you can buy directly from farmers, vegetables and fruit from both traditional and organic farming, fresh chicken eggs, pecorino cheese and locally produced typical salami. In the port of Viareggio which is about 12 km away, you can buy fresh fish caught in the sea in front.

Every day we have a weekly market in various locations in our area.
For shopping you can go to Viareggio or to the elegant Forte dei Marmi.

The extra virgin olive oil certainly remains the most characteristic product of the territory and can be found directly in the area.

New Year's Eve the house is only available for families

Carla is a natural-born host. She lives about a mile away, she was not intrusive but was helpful on check in (she physically lead us to the house as not all roads are passable in a normal size car), she texted us when there was a planned powercut coming up etc. Her English is immaculate. The house location is stunning - the photos on the listing do not do justice to the mountain view from the living room and patio. The house is immediately surrounded by several others and it's about a mile steep walk to the village church and bar, which we did a few times. We fitted a Citroen C5 along the roads but you have to drive carefully and add 10 minutes to journey times. We got to Viareggio, Lucca, Pisa, Carrara marble tours, Massaciuccoli and other places in under an hour, a bit longer to Pisa. There's not much outside space with the house, just a patio with table, chairs and grapevine. Inside it's gorgeously quaint: lots of beams, antique furniture etc. The kitchen is very well equipped and everything works. The beds are comfortable, good shower, enough storage, parasol and cleaning supplies. The internet signal was very patchy, we downloaded films before we arrived and went out to research online. There's no air conditioning but plenty of fans and the windows have mosquito nets so you can leave them open. It was 38C and we didn't suffer from the heat. The stairs are steep stone but our kids (6 & 8) were fine on them. Hope that's helpful.

we had a beautiful 8-day holiday in Casino Rossa/Corsanico. Carla and Andrea helped us wherever it was possible (not much needed, e.g. picking us up from the bus station). Everything in the house for our stay including the location on top of the hill with good air was perfect. We went without car, could do beautiful hikes through the hills, villages and mountains, and visited Lucca. We would always come back to this place, when we visit the region.

We enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it. Quiet place but close enough to town. The host is the best!
