Pet Friendly Quiet Retreat Near Nashville

I only booked this house for my family of 5 (2 adults, 2 teenagers, and a 7-year-old) for one night as we were passing through the area. I wanted something peaceful as we had to be in the car for about 9 hours to get there. Let me tell you, I was so sad that we were only there one night. I am seriously considering taking another trip and having this house as my primary destination. Reasons I loved it: 1. Tucked into the woods on a side road so very minimal traffic going by. This made it so easy to let the kids run around the yard with little worry and to sit on the porch to enjoy the wildlife (and of course our favorite, Miss Kitty) with privacy. 2. The hosts have thought of EVERYTHING. There were locally made snacks for us to enjoy, a smores kit which we unfortunately didn't have the change to use, miscellaneous toiletries in case you forgot something, information on things to do nearby, menus for local restaurants, etc. 3. The house is old but has been updated. This made us feel at home. There was also a booklet on the table explaining the history of the house which made it feel special to be a part of. 4. The area was perfect. If you like the hustle and bustle of the city, Nashville is so close. If the outdoors is more your style, there is hiking, kayaking, and even a zipline park nearby. I HIGHLY recommend this place if you want to feel at home and just sit back and relax.

Excellent all around

We stayed two nights to break up the drive to Pensacola, and spent a day visiting museums and taking the dogs on a little hike in the Harpeth River park. First and foremost, it was clean on the inside -- that's a major plus! We appreciated the snacks and eggs! However, the pictures make it a little better than it seemed -- especially on the outside. It could use a little paint and pressure washing, and gravel in the parking area. Our really major suggestion would be adding a dishwasher. I know it would spoil one set of antique cabinets, but for sanitation purposes between guests it seems major. I think it needs to be clearly stated in the listing details as I made the mistake and assumed that there would be a dishwasher as most rentals do have them. The mattresses could definitely be updated as both have body indents on both sides of the beds. But, it was clean and worthy of a four star rating. In my opinion, it just needs a few improvements to bring it up to a 5. I really appreciate it being dog-friendly!
