About this house rental
The Roque gageac is in the heart of the valley of castles in Périgord Noir.
This village is one of the favorite villages of the French. It is nestled between the cliff and the Dordogne river. It benefits from a micro climate thanks to its south-facing exposure. It is the start of many visits nearby such as the castles of Castelnaud, the Milandes former residence of Josephine Baker and Beynac but also beautiful hiking and cycling, unless you prefer an old-fashioned canoe or gabarre ride.
From the terrace of the Périgord house, you will have a breathtaking view of the valley, opposite the castle of Castelnaud, the viewpoint of the castle and garden of Marqueyssac, of the village of La roque gageac and even as far as Domme.
The house has been completely restored to give it exceptional charm and comfort.
On the ground floor, you will find an equipped kitchen opening onto the panoramic terrace, an entrance, a bathroom with a toilet.
On the ground floor, you will stroll through the leather living room or in the interior swing, a pretty double bedroom 160 cm, another bathroom lit by a glass roof and a toilet.
Upstairs are two other attic rooms, one with a 140 cm bed and the other with two 90 cm beds.
You have the possibility to park your car in the lower part of the property and then access your rental by a stone staircase.
For free and unsupervised swimming, the house is in front of the sand beach of Les Pendouilles, a little further away the pebble beaches of Malartrie, the Cenac bridge and the Castelnaud bridge.
Weekly rental with the possibility of renting from 3 nights in April, May, June and September.
The house is not suitable for people with reduced mobility.

The BnB is peaceful, quiet, private, with a lovely view. From the terrace, you can see Castelnaud Castle in one direction and a bit of Domme in the other; otherwise you’re looking out over trees and mountains (in June, the river was mostly hidden by the leafy trees). At the BnB, we spent our time on the terrace, right off the kitchen, enjoying local goodies & the view: sunsets, hot air balloons. The bedrooms are spacious, especially the one with the larger bed on the 3rd floor. The bathroom on the 2nd floor is right next to the 2nd floor bedroom. Both bathrooms have enclosed showers; the water pressure is great & there is plenty of hot water. The kitchen met all our needs. The location was perfect; a 10-minute walk to the village restaurants, shops, troglodytes. The BnB is right above the bamboo garden (you get to the BnB by heading through this parking lot) and Bambousaie restaurant, a lovely place to dine (superb duck confit). At Nadine’s son’s restaurant, Las Terrasses, the food was delicious and dining on the shaded terrace overlooking the Dordogne was absolutely delightful. This is a great location for seeing the Dordogne Valley. The furthest we drove was to Pete Merle to the south and Lascaux to the north, and we had plenty to see in between. To find the place initially, we called from the village to get further directions in English. The driveway is steep, but we got our 2-wheel drive rental up it. Otherwise, there was parking right by the driveway entrance.
