About this house rental
Standing just inside the fortified town walls of the village of Domme (classified as “one of the most beautiful villages of France’’), this beautifully restored stone village house has superb and extensive views over the valley.
It is a 3 minute walk from the shops, bars and restaurants of the bastide village and has a small secluded garden and a private pool. Just think - you can lie in bed enjoying the countryside views and send the kids to get the baguettes and croissants in the mornings!
Indoors description :

Les Remparts has three bedrooms and two shower rooms, a large living room with an open plan kitchen, and a charming cosy salon.
It has been restored and redecorated with a keen eye
to detail whilst retaining many of the original features with exposed stone walls and beams.
From the terrace, a french door opens to the living room with its dining area and open plan kitchen fully equipped with an electric oven, 4 ring hob, microwave, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. Also on that level a first shower room and separate toilet.
An open tread spiral staircase leads up to the first floor with its comfortably elegant salon, with leather sofas, Smart TV, and Hi-Fi.
Next is the first double bedded room with a large double bed (160cm wide) and a shower room and toilet.
Set on the upper level, under the eaves, the second attractive double bedded room and the twin bedroom, both have views over the valley.
NOTA: because of the spiral staircases with no security handrail, we feel the house not to be suitable for family with young children.

The large terrace with dining area and the swimming pool (8x4m, all one depth) with its large paved surround also make full advantage of the view. Sun beds and chairs offer the ideal spot for relaxing, and sunbathing.

The property was very clean and tastefully decorated. It is however very small which you cannot tell from the pictures. The main bedroom on the second floor has plenty of storage. The bedroom window was on the front road which affected privacy. The upstairs bunk rooms are tastefully decorated but not suited for adults. There is very little ventilation on the top floor so it gets extremely hot. I would suggest a ceiling fan be installed in the main bedroom if possible. The pool was very refreshing. The back patio is very rough so pool shoes or sandles are needed to walk on it. The house is minimally stocked with garbage bags, dishwasher tabs, toilet paper and laundry products. Be sure to stop at the grocery store in Cynac to stock up.

This was the perfect house and perfect base for a week in the Dordogne for our family of four. The house was beautiful, clean, and comfortable. It is exactly as beautiful as the pictures show. The kitchen is not fancy but was well supplied and completely adequate for cooking dinner at the house, which we did several times. The pool was lovely to lounge by and take a dip in. The location of the house in Domme and Domme in the region was terrific for venturing out over the week. We highly recommend the home.

Domme is a lovely town, great location and views. However, it was v much end of the season (end Sept/beginning Oct) so the town “dies”. Many restaurants closed/limited opening. Still enjoyed our time in the area.
