About this house rental

Private, peaceful bach surrounded by beautiful native bush. 2 mins drive to Onetangi beach, vineyards, and several restaurants.

Large deck, BBQ, hammock and swing. Two boogie boards, portacot, highchair, books, board games, and an in-tune steel string guitar.

10 mins walk to bus stop, a large Four Square supermarket, takeaways and bottle shop. 12 mins walk to white silicon sand of Onetangi beach with crystal clear water which is very safe for swimming.

The new Onetangi Four Square supermarket opened in Dec 2021 next to the Onetangi petrol station and bus stop . It stocks everything you could possible need, and is only 10 mins walk from the bach.

Activities within 5 mins drive from the bach include; Onetangi beach, golf course, tennis courts, horse riding, Stonyridge vineyard, Casita Miro restaurant, Heke Brewery and Distillery, Te Motu Restaurant, Wild on Waiheke) and three bars/restaurants on Onetangi beach (Three Seven Two, Charlie Farley's and Ki Maha).

Our traditional kiwi bach ideal for romantic couples or small families wanting to experience something special in native bush and uniquely Waiheke, while being close enough to all the Island has to offer. We have two heat pumps which make the bach cozy and warm in winter, but cool in the summer.

Amazing birdlife surrounds the bach including; tui, fantails, kaka, parrots, native wood pigeons, and morepork (native owls) calling at night. Glow worms can be seen at night 2 minutes walk up the road (turn left out of the drive).

The bedroom is upstairs on a mezzanine floor with a double and single bed. The stairs to the bedroom are quite steep. There is a handrail on the stairs, but our bach may not suit elderly or people with mobility difficulties.

A small stream runs through the property, with a few fish in it. Please keep an eye on small children and NO fishing please!

The Onetangi bus from the Ferry takes you to within 10 mins walk of the bach. Get off at the Onetangi petrol station (approx 20 minutes ride from the Matiatia ferry terminal.

My partner and I visited for Valentine’s weekend and enjoyed the property for 2x nights. The place itself has everything you need - fully equipped kitchen, one bed in the mezzanine, outdoor space and a great bathroom. There is no wifi however, and little service. While we enjoyed our stay, it did feel somewhat eerie, which could be attributed to the weather or the complete seclusion. The best way we could put it, once we pondered on it on the ferry ride home, was that there was a slightly weird energy there, and we wondered what the history of the place was…Still, if you’re generally unaffected by these things, it has everything you need and is well located for island tours on either side.
