1 bedroom flat with free underground parking in Birmingham Central

Central for all amenities. Close to ICC and train/ city center..

A little building work going on, but didn't affect us really.

This is a very well located property for visiting the ICC, Museum, library etc. The apartment is very clean and comfortable with excellent facilities. I would be happy to book it again in future, though the experience is somewhat marred by the check-in procedure.

The check-in process is difficult. On Booking.com you are invited to select a check in time. In practice you can only check in at 15.00 unless you pay£10 per hour for a different time. The location of the flat is not given and you have to request that. Then, a day before you are due to travel you get a request for a copy of your driving licence or passport. Only then are you told where the key is to be collected (at a shop close to the apartment). The key can only be returned at 10.00 on the ay of check out. This is the most difficult check-in experience I've known anywhere and could be much simplified. Although there is a television set, it only works if you bring your own Netflix or similar account. As I don't have such a thing I could not use it, though it didn't matter for my stay. It would be sensible to have the free to air channels logged in for those without an account.

The host was very responsive and helpful. The property was value for money and clean. The parking was good but you have to get there early to get a space.

The reason I didn’t rate the property higher was the unbearably buzzing in the flat which felt like torture and I couldn’t sleep at all. Not ideal as I was working. I couldn’t wait to get out so that I didn’t have to hear the loud buzzing. As well as the overbearing smell of cannabis which I could smell on myself when I got outside.
