MOVARIN Samarkand Guest House

This place is really the best spot to stay in Samarkand. It's clean and cozy, you can use the super clean common kitchen and washing machine if you need it. The best part was the incredible host. We wanted to stay longer (one more night) but the guest house was full so we booked the extra night on the other guest house that they also own and the host payed for out taxi ride to the other guest house. Totally unnecessary but amazing gesture.

No complaints at all.

The host was friendly and communicative and always on hand as needed, The place was in a quiet area around 10 minutes walk from Registan Square so close enough to explore the main area whilst being out of the hustle and bustle. When we wanted to go a bit further out, it was really quick and easy to pick up a Yandex taxi from the main road only a couple of minutes walk away.

Although generally we found the beds in hotels hard during our 2-week trip to Uzbekistan, those in this hotel were probably the hardest during our visit. In our room, the cramped bathroom flooded whenever we had a shower and the toilet was right in front of the frosted glass door so you could see quite a lot when it was in use. Some opaque covering, even if its just on the bottom half of the door, is needed to significantly improve privacy. Overall we did look past these issues because of the value vs location and quietness was really good. It looks like the bathroom is somewhat dependent on the room you get so may not be an issue for others. It would have received a higher score if it weren't for the uncomfortable beds.
