Casinha da Floresta

I spent 10 days at Casinha da Floresta and had an amazing stay. Dani and Santi have created a peaceful and beautiful retreat in the mountains of Guachaca, near Santa Marta. Getting there is part of the experience. A local bus from Santa Marta takes you to Guachaca, followed by a short hike up the mountain (you can get help with your luggage). The walk already immerses you in nature. The cabins are open, comfortable, and offer stunning views of the jungle and ocean. Everything is built with sustainability in mind, using permaculture principles that blend beautifully into the environment. Each morning I woke up to the sunrise and the sounds of birds or howler monkeys. There are hikes, waterfalls, rivers, and beaches all within walking distance. Dani and Santi are kind and welcoming hosts. They made me feel at home from the beginning, sharing great food, stories, and helpful local tips. Filtered drinking water is provided, the Wi-Fi is strong (ideal for remote work), and the kitchen is fully equipped if you want to cook your own meals. Their sweet dogs and chickens add to the charm! If you're looking to disconnect, relax, and be surrounded by nature in a meaningful, sustainable setting, I highly recommend Casinha da Floresta. I hope to return one day!
