The area around the apartment can feel somewhat uninviting upon a late-night arrival — poorly lit, quiet, surrounded mostly by a car park with very few businesses nearby. That said, first impressions here are deceiving. We felt entirely safe throughout our stay, including with young children. Much like the British weather, things are rarely as grim as they first appear. Location is genuinely one of the apartment's strongest points. Temple Meads station is a short walk away, Cabot Circus is reachable in around ten minutes on foot, and the city centre — Millennium Square, the harbour — in roughly fifteen. For a family wanting to explore Bristol without relying on public transport, it works very well. The apartment itself is comfortable and well-lit. Beds and sofa are decent, and having a television in each room is a practical touch. The kitchen covers the basics: fridge, coffee maker, toaster and microwave. For a group of six, however, the absence of a dishwasher is a notable gap — one which we resolved through a highly democratic system: whoever lost at Parchís that evening did the washing-up. I am pleased to report that, as reigning and undefeated Parchís champion of the household, my hands remained largely dry throughout the entire stay. Key collection was straightforward — a lockbox at the entrance, no coordination required. Even my husband managed it on the first attempt, which I consider a separate five-star achievement. To his credit, the host was kind enough to offer us a late check-out to make up for the inconveniences we encountered during our stay — a gesture that, in my experience, separates a decent host from a truly good one. Overall, a functional and well-located option for families visiting Bristol for a short staying.

A few issues worth mentioning — in the spirit of fairness the British so rightly value. The kitchen had only four plates for six people. Mealtimes required a rotation more suited to a hospital canteen than a family holiday. The pots and pans were rusty, worn, and of deeply questionable hygiene — the sort that makes a health inspector weep. The sole decent option was a single stainless steel pot, in which I somehow produced perfectly acceptable omelettes for the children. A triumph under adversity. This was raised with the host, who did not respond. Then came day two. The upstairs apartment was let, and every shower sent water through our bedroom ceiling. The rusty pots found a second career as buckets. The host responded promptly, flagged the repair, and acknowledged that Easter left little room for immediate action. The upstairs guests left after three days. Problem contained, if not solved. The communal staircase appears to belong to no one and is maintained accordingly. Previous guests have flagged this in their reviews. No lift — worth knowing if travelling with pushchairs, reduced mobility, or suitcases of any ambition. The toilet seat was broken. Not gently loose — enthusiastically, committedly unstable. This too had been reported by previous guests, which makes its continued presence all the more puzzling. Simply not acceptable. To his credit, the host accepted a late check-out in compensation — a gesture that separates a decent host from a forgettable one. This property has genuine potential. But kitchenware, plumbing, the toilet seat are not optional upgrades. They are the basics. Sort them promptly, and this apartment could earn the ratings it deserves.
