The onsen was lovely and just 25 minutes from the station. Local town beautiful and known for it wooden lacquer bowls. The onsen was very good but the canteen style dinner was a bit of a startling situation as it felt like a school dining hall to a westerner although a lot of Japanese onsens do have canteens similar. My suggestion if you are western is just go with the flow!
Canteen dining experience but that is from a western perspective.

Everything was perfect. The large and comfortable room, the view from the room, the onsen, the food, and the friendly staff.

I loved the experience, the place was located near a wonderful river gorge with a beautiful trail to experience. The rooms provided a traditional Japanese look and feel. The onsen was very relaxing.
The buffet has lots of selection but we would have enjoyed it more if the quality of meats was a bit higher and the dining room had more intimate areas.
