Villa La Golden Monkey, Villa 24

The layout and design of this villa is absolutely beautiful. I truly loved it! The pool is great for just lounging which is exactly what I wanted.

They didn't tell me until 11pm the night before that I would not have electricity, water, or use of a toilet for THE ENTIRE NEXT DAY! Completely unprofessional and ridiculous. This was "routine maintenance" but they still took my reservation and my money! Then, they only offered a measly refund. Again, unacceptable 😑 😤 my entire first day of my visit was ruined! If they told me sooner, I could have booked an excursion, but they didn't so I was just stuck. And, the location isn't popular with the local taxis. The island doesn't use Grab, so you MUST use the overly expensive airport cab service for 800bhat to drive 17min. Absurd! Then, you have to make sure the driver has the correct Jungle Villas because I spent 1.5 hours in a cab for a 17min ride bc they couldn't find the villas nor could the staff give proper directions. The wifi is inconsistent as well. THEN the staff tells me the pool guy will visit "whenever" and he has a key so he will just "come in". Again, unacceptable! As a solo female traveler, I should not have my safety at risk so some random person can come into my villa "whenever" he feels like it! Just ridiculous! Finally, the door locks are piss poor. They just have simple bathroom door push locks, not proper entry/exit door locks. They didn't lock properly and the staff had to return to my villa to fix it! Made me feel unsafe. The villa is beautiful and the staff are friendly, but ask these questions BEFORE booking so you dont waste your time. Ask if the villa will have full use of all amenities for the duration of your stay. Shouldn't have to ask this, but I guess these are the times we're living in. Ask if someone will be coming "whenever" they feel like it. Ask if the villa will be thoroughly cleaned before arrival. I found some dead bugs in my shower when I arrived.
