Le Grand Bleu

Lovely apartment, well appointed, clean and comfortable, in a safe neighbourhood, had everything we needed. Host was very helpful whenever we had questions, and her taxi guy got us from the airport to the place safely and cheaply. Really can't fault it - my husband said it's the best apartment we've rented in three months on the road, and I'd agree. It was very nice to sit out on the balcony for a bit then dip back into the lovely aircon. The whole week-long stay was really relaxing - we really felt a sense of being at home in our own place.

Location is just a little too far from everywhere you wanna be, you can walk to the main areas in 40 minutes or so, otherwise as we did you'll spend a lot on Grabs (local Ubers) whose minimum fare in Koh Samui is around 3x anywhere else in Thailand or indeed Asia. The beach is 300 metres away as claimed, but access is chargeable - the nearest free beach is 4km away. In reality these compromises were fine - it's a great apartment, just amortise the transport fares into the overall cost.

Central location, close to beach and restaurants. We'll presented with everything you need.

Lift broke down a couple of times but was fixed quickly.

I gave a cash deposit of 150$ on arrival. On checkout the person who checked me in wasn't around to give me the deposit back. It took me two weeks to get the deposit back, trying to contact the staff who had my deposit every few days to hear they're going or coming from the island soon, therefore my deposit was inaccessible. Eventually I got a message at 2AM on a friday asking me to come take the deposit otherwise the person would be gone again. I got there and recieved instead of my original deposit cash notes of 50$ I got smaller change dollar notes which I cannot convert on an exchange effectively leaving me without money. I didn't like that.
