Suite Steps to San Diego Top Spots

We had a lovely few days staying here, it was great to be able to sit outside and read and relax. We were very happy with the location and had a very enjoyable meal out in Little Italy which was a short walk away.

The only thing we struggled with was parking on a couple of occasions had to park several streets away, this is out of the owners control though and Friday and Saturday evenings seem the busiest for finding street parking nearby. You are under the fly pass but you get used to the airplane noises and it was fun to watch them flying in to land.

The location was just beautiful, the bed was the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in in my life - firm but heavenly soft. I can’t describe it. The ac worked beautifully, the planes overhead were an absolute joy. The parking worked out wonderfully for five days even if we couldn’t get a spot right outside the gate. You can walk straight into little Italy. The little garden was really cute, the kitchen cabinets, sink and fridge - all beautiful and modern. Did I tell you the bed was the most comfortable thing I have ever slept in before in my life - like a cloud 🥹

Sadly the cleanliness was lacking. Moldly slimy stuff and hair on the shower curtain. The gate code failed, leaving me to climb it and try and use a stick. The gate needs new hinges badly - it is literally closing you in its metal jaws as you try and drag a child and a suitcase through it without losing a finger or wrecking the back of your heels. In general it lacks the finishing touches. The pretty garden/tables and chairs are unkempt, it lacked a shade structure, the kitchen lacked many, many things: No soap, no cutting board, no silicone or wooden spoons for cooking, dirty wet plates put away in drawers, food bits and expired tea from 2024, towels with stains, the mirror fell off the wall, the blinds are all too big for the windows and need shortening/fixing. No regular kitchen knife or scissors or anything other than a butter knife (could be the CA laws) the layout was slightly awkward, the furniture is old and clunky and stained or damaged, the door hits the unit with the keurig on it. There is no table and chairs for eating dinner at despite the place being suitable for two couples. It’s a shame really because a little bit of money spent in each unit - and probably not even a thousand dollars per unit - would dramatically change the entire feel and appearance.

The location and view of the property is amazing! It’s within walking distance to Little Italy, the Waterfront Park, the Midway, the Maritime, and the Bay cruises. Conveniently located for downtown activities and Mission area activities, whether driving or ride sharing. Perfect location if you’re utilizing a City Pass on your vacation. Street parking is available and easiest to find when not parking late at night.

It is directly under the landing path to the airport, so if you are sensitive to noise, the planes can get loud. It didn’t inhibit the sleep of myself, or children, however.

Good central location for anyone looking to explore downtown + Balboa Park, easy access to freeways for trips to beach or Mission Bay as well. Luckily street parking was never hard to find on the same block as the property. Host was very accessible & communicative through Booking message app.

Spotted multiple cockroaches throughout the unit during our summer stay. Understand that San Diego is now a tropical climate these days and pest management was seen on-site, but still not up to my standards. Also house is directly under the flight path & while that might be cool/interesting for some airplane enthusiasts, it was definitely LOUD even when inside the unit.
