Hotel Sagrada Familia

The hotel is very close to the Sagrada Familia which is its USP. Otherwise, for the prices being charged, the facilities were okayish (comparing to other stays in Spain, and not necessarily Barcelona). While I was told that tap water is potable across Spain, the hotel staff informed that the tap water was not good and recommend we got a large bottle from the store next door. The room space was limited for the infant to crawl around (we did not take a baby cot). The staff was warm and helpful. Hot water ran out in one instance and there are no signs on switches indicating if any of them was the geyser.

Could have been 5stars, my only complaint is that when i tried to use the air conditioning, water is leaking. So i turned it off. Luckily it is not hot at night. And my room is besides the elevator, can feel and hear the vibration when someone is using it. Everything else is ok

I rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience at this hotel was honestly one of the worst hotel experiences we had during our almost two-month trip around Europe. From the moment we arrived, the reception experience was already disappointing. The receptionist was not welcoming at all—no greeting, no smile, and no effort to make us feel welcome. He immediately went straight to asking for our passports. We specifically booked a room with twin beds, but we were given a room with only one bed. When we asked why, his response was simply that he did not know. He told us that the hotel was fully booked and that he could not transfer us to a room with twin beds. What made the situation even more frustrating was that he did not even appear to check the system or make any effort to find a solution. He simply told us “NO” right away. Before going up to our room, we also asked if we could leave our luggage at the hotel after checkout. This is something many hotels normally accommodate, so we were surprised by the response. The receptionist sarcastically told us, “You leave your luggage, you pay,” referring to their luggage lockers, which cost €5 for the first hour and €1 for every succeeding hour. At that point, we decided not to argue because there was simply no point. We just wanted to enjoy the rest of our stay. Unfortunately, things got even worse when we entered the room. The first thing we noticed was the bathroom towels. They were not properly prepared and were simply left beside the sink—wet. We called reception and asked for fresh towels. Again, instead of apologizing or showing even a little sympathy, we were simply told, “If you want new ones, get them here at reception.” No apology. No “sorry for the inconvenience.” Nothing. The room itself was also extremely small, to the point that two people could barely move around comfortably, especially with our luggage. The hot shower was another serious issue. The temperature was extremely sensitive—if you moved the control even slightly, the water could suddenly become so hot that it could burn you. This is something that should definitely be addressed for the safety of guests. What makes this experience even more disappointing is that we had been traveling around Europe for almost two months and had stayed in several different hotels. This was the only hotel where we experienced this kind of treatment. Thankfully, we had previously stayed at ***n Barcelona, and the experience there was completely different. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the room was much more spacious, and the views were stunning. We only moved to this hotel because ***was not available for that particular night. Honestly, the price difference between the two hotels was not even that significant. If we could do it again, we would definitely stay at*** The room was significantly bigger, and the staff—from reception to the restaurant waiters—were genuinely friendly and accommodating. For us, good customer service is just as important as the room itself. Unfortunately, this hotel failed in both areas. If you are considering staying here, think twice and compare your options carefully. There are better hotels in Barcelona for a similar price, with much better service and a much more comfortable experience. I will never stay at this hotel again, and based on our experience, I cannot recommend it to other travelers.
