The Gate Hotel

This is a 'budget' hotel that has had some work done to it, but is clearly having more done. This was a one night stay after sporting and theatre visits. Price was comparably reasonable and double room was of fair size, with recently refurbished shower room. Advantage for us was the 24 hour reception, which allowed a late check in. Reception staff were friendly and helpful - it was one of the hotter days of the year and we were offered water from the fridge. The rooms are not air-conditioned, but fans had been provided and the stay was comfortable. Room was clean, linen, toiletries and tea/coffee tray were provided. Location is good for Hyde Park, Paddington and in my case, a pleasant early morning walk to Lords along the canal.

Close to underground station. Plenty of places nearby for food. Staff were welcoming.

The staff at the property were welcoming and helpful, there was always someone at the desk - they were happy to refill teas and coffees or toilet paper, unfortunately the hair dryer wasn’t working but this is minor, the room whilst small was plenty big enough to move around and get ready, bigger than most London hotel rooms, the place was clean and maintained daily
