Astor Oxford Street

Location is incredible basically in the middle of Soho. Staff were generally very friendly and willing to help. Best factor by a mile was the price, extremely cheap for London, very good value. It’s really basic but it’s what it says on the tin in a good way

GREAT location. In the middle of it all with various transportation options steps away. Check in was easy, desk clerk was friendly, place was super cute. Enjoyed the community area for dining and hanging out and met many who were also staying as they enjoyed their travels. Most people were so friendly and open to conversation. Kitchen was handy to have and we were able to grab a few essentials from a few nearby markets to make our meals. Really nice to have access to the fridge. Our room was a good size, clean, and well-made. They really tried to keep the common spaces and bathrooms clean. We stayed in 2 different private rooms, one was a triple (a bunk bed and single bed in the room) and the other was a double (one bunk bed). Of the 2, I preferred the double as there was more floor space and a desk as well. They also let us store our luggage in a basement luggage room while exploring between switching rooms, which was nice. Just know that it is also open to others staying.

A few cleaning staff were quite unfriendly (most weren't), especially when using the kitchen. First night found hairs in my bed sheets, which led me to concern over overall cleanliness, but the next few nights no problems. The biggest complaints were the noise at night and the beds. There were those inconsiderate folk making quite a bit of noise at night when opening and closing doors loudly, especially the last night. I've also discovered that the doors in places using the new 'digital' door lock system are in general noisy when opening and closing, something with the catch, and unless one holds the handle down and closes it quietly themselves (which most don't :/) you get awakened. A group moved into the room adjacent to ours at 2am, loudly, seemingly drunk (or just inconsiderately loud), hanging out in the hall continuing their party. This isn't the fault of the hostel, as they have signs up asking people to be considerate with volumes, but happens when you have groups of people around. The beds, well they couldn't really be called mattresses; they were hard, vinyl wrapped things that I just could not get comfortable on.

I stayed here one night and it was really clean and the most beautiful hostel I ve been in these days. Really nice place for having breakfast right next door

The faucet was moving , but in the rest everything really nice. The smell of the bathroom comes in the room - the bathroom pipes I mean / the drain

So hot in the rooms, uncomfortable beds. Small toilets and showers were inconvenient.
