River Song Ubud, Bali

Staying at River Song Ubud was hands down one of the most magical travel experiences I’ve ever had. Tucked away in the lush greenery of Ubud, this place feels like your own private sanctuary — peaceful, intimate, and completely immersed in nature. From the moment Iarrived, the staff made me feel at ease. The welcome was warm and genuine, and throughout my stay they were attentive without ever being intrusive. Every little detail felt thoughtful and personal. The villa was absolutely stunning — spacious, beautifully designed, and open to the sounds of the river and jungle. Waking up to birdsong and falling asleep to the gentle flow of water below was pure bliss. The private pool overlooking the greenery was a dream — serene, secluded, and perfect for unwinding after a day exploring Ubud. Breakfast each morning was fresh and delicious, prepared with care and served in the most tranquil setting imaginable. Sitting there with coffee, surrounded by palm trees and the soft morning light, felt like something out of a movie. What makes River Song truly special is the atmosphere. It’s not just luxury — it’s soul. It’s calm. It’s that rare kind of place where you instantly slow down, breathe deeper, and feel completely present. If you’re looking for a romantic escape, a peaceful retreat, or simply a place to reconnect with nature while still enjoying comfort and elegance, this is it.

The location is spectacular in terms of setting in the jungle with stunning views of the river below, which is all you can hear. The Four Seasons Resort is located directly below if you would like to have a drink or a meal at inflated prices. The bed is very comfortable and the WIFI was good. The staff was very kind and helpful with all my requests.

The architectural design and placement of each unit is not ideal if you want privacy. Some units have more privacy than others though Especially the design and location of the bathroom in my unit was flawed. Simply flipping some units 180 degrees during the design stage would have improved this as well as removing the totally unnecessary common kitchen area, causing unwanted traffic. Besides breakfast there are no other services offered, hence you need have your own transportation or car service to reach popular restaurants.

The rooms were exactly as pictured on Booking.com. The breakfast options were limited, but that was no problem because we loved everything we tried. Coffee, fruit, eggs with toast, banana pancakes… Our rooms were clean and made up each day. Pool towels provided. The open air bathrooms were of particular interest (there are a few bugs and ants, but they did not bother us). We had mosquito netting over the bed, but did not see or hear very many, even though it was the rainy season. Our air conditioning worked fine. The highlights of our 1 week stay (two couples): THE VIEW!!! Comfortable beds left us well rested The “river’s song”, it is so relaxing to listen to the river as it meanders below The way the rooms seemed to be grouped into sections. We had a dining & living room plus a pool (separate from our rooms) that overlooked the river, and was not shared by all guests. Not sure how this works for other others. Did we mention THE VIEW!!! And the staff: Gusti who reached out shortly after our booking, and arranged our transportation as well as activities. August who picked us up at the airport (after a much delayed flight), and who happily responded to our unending questions enroute to the hotel Wayan and her son Kadek, who met us upon our late arrival to assist with baggage, and who returned every morning (with a smile) to prepare our breakfast along with the ever helpful Made. Tips: Book a room WITH A BALCONY facing the river. You will not regret it! Visit the 4 Seasons Hotel for a drink. It is worth the view, particularly from the bridge, and look back up to the “RiverSong” just above “Sayan House” - a restaurant just down the street. We loved our meals there, and the amazing views of both the “Four Seasons”, and “RiverSong” Cooking classes at “Omahneka Cooking Class”. We enjoyed a great meal that we prepared ourselves under the patient instruction of Ketut. The location is walkable from RiverSong, in a beautiful family compound.

A Truly Special Stay at River Song Ubud We had the pleasure of staying at River Song Ubud for two nights, and honestly, we wished we could have stayed longer! From the moment we arrived, we were in awe of the intricate detail and stunning beauty of the property. It’s clear that a lot of love and care has gone into creating such a serene and welcoming environment. The views from the accommodation are absolutely breathtaking, with lush greenery, rolling hills, and the tranquil river below — it’s the kind of scenery that makes you want to sit back and just take it all in. Whether you're enjoying breakfast or winding down after a day of exploring, the surrounding beauty never gets old. Zubin, the host, was incredible. From the moment we arrived, he made us feel right at home, offering warm hospitality and personalized recommendations to ensure we had the best experience possible. The staff were equally fantastic, always attentive and friendly without being intrusive. We truly felt like we were in a little slice of paradise. If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat in Ubud with stunning views, impeccable service, and attention to detail, River Song Ubud is the perfect choice.
