Pisces Cottage, Historic Harbour Hideaway

The location is so central and it was lovely & cool in the height of the heatwave. It was very well decorated, equipped with everything you need and a nice modern bathroom with powerful shower.

Nothing we didn’t like that wasn’t expected - there are a lot of steps up to the cottage & the bathroom is downstairs but bedrooms upstairs. We knew this but just important for people to know. Also it said dog friendly (we didn’t bring ours in the end due to the heat) but there is no outside space & so taking a dog would not be very practical.

Great location, everything we needed, very homely, comfortable stay, well equipped and we enjoyed our stay there very much.

It’s located at the top of some steps which, everything in Brixham is either up steps, or a steep hill, so not a game changer. The stairs in the property are dangerously steep, and the ceilings are low so you need to watch your head. The bathroom is downstairs and the bedrooms upstairs, so frustrating having to get up and negotiate one or two flights of stairs to go to the loo in the night. Feather filled pillows were aweful, scrunched when you moved on them, very thin and sharp in places, advised owners to provide better pillows, otherwise the stay was very comfertable and relaxing.

It wasn’t too far to the harbour but a lot of steps

1 toilet roll between 4 people over 2 nights was poor

The cottage location was good. And the beds were comfy

The cottage was dirty unfortunately. Thick cobwebs surrounded the door frame which didnt bode well upon arrival in terms of first impressions. Once inside we discovered that a thick grease covered spatula had been put into the utensil drawer and had contaminated the rest of the utensils. And there were lots of brown marks on the walls adjacent to the toilet. It just felt very unclean. The sofas in the lounge were cheap and uncomfortable so it didnt feel comfy in there. The managing agents did offer to send in the cleaners but we had already washed the contents of the utensil drawer and unpacked so we didnt want any further disruption. They then let themselves into the cittage whilst we were out and left a bottle of wine and chocolates. Whilst this was obviously a kind gesture, letting themselves in without prior consent/approval is also questionable. But i do understand that they most probably just did it as a way of an apology.
