The Old School House

Dawn over the mountains when preparing breakfast. Stunning view over Loch Harport and Talisker distillery. Waterfall just behind the house. Sheep grazing in front of the house when returning from a day trip. Clear starry night sky. We were stunned just how beautiful this place is!

The location was beautiful; close to Talisker distillery and an easy drive to Portree and other sights on the island.

The door handle to access the schoolhouse half of the property was missing. We could unlock the door, but there was no handle to turn to open it. This meant we couldn’t access the second bathroom, laundry, or schoolhouse common area for the majority of our stay. This was more than 50% of the property. The property owners did not respond to messages sent via Booking or WhatsApp. Most calls went unanswered. When we finally did get in touch via phone, they said they had received our messages (though they never replied) and dispatched a repairman. He forgot to bring a key and had to come back again the next day (the last day of our stay). As a result, we couldn’t access that part of the unit until our final evening. The host has yet to respond to ANY communication requesting a partial refund or apology. Booking has reached out to the host after we complained but has not yet received a response. Be careful booking here (or with any Skye Accommodation Services served property); the hosts are entirely unresponsive if something goes wrong. Update: Skye Accommodation Services today has refused any sort of partial refund, arguing that they provided beds and one bathroom so we got our money's worth. When I pushed back on the lack of access to more than half the property (including the laundry facilities, second toilet, second shower, entertaining space, etc.) they replied, "Oh, so you want to f*** over a local just to save some money?" They admitted that they knew the door was broken prior to our arrival but had trouble sourcing replacement parts. Instead of warning us or offering us the option to cancel, they just said nothing and hoped it wouldn't be a problem. When I again asked for a partial refund, the Skye Accommodation Services representative hung up on me. They have not returned any calls since then, so I've opened a dispute with American Express. BEWARE if staying here.

very peculiar and special. extraordinary. Sheep everywhere closeby. also poop everywhere (lol) Nature pure. House is warm and cozy. nice kitchen. everything is there.

the WiFi / Internet is poor. shower head in main building needs to be changed.

I don’t have enough words to say how amazing this place is. It has all the possible amenities, everything was spotless. The green grass, the sheep, the views, we would have stayed there for another week if possible. Very easy to find following the directions received. About 10 minute walk to the village, there are several restaurants opened for lunch (up to 3pm) and dinner (after 5pm). Amazing property!
