Cocon Place Massena, Cours Saleya et Mer

Only 20 minute walk from the train station. Location was brilliant. So many nice shops and patisseries near by. We took our own washing pods and got a wash done which was great, we are travelling for weeks but travelling light. Very comfortable, toiletries supplied. Fridge great. Coffee machine with pods, nice touch.

Unfortunately it’s on the 4th floor and no lift, keeps you fit and works off the pastries.

Emplacement idéal avec boulangerie, supérette, parking et superbe bar à vin à moins de 50m. Quartier animé mais pas de nuisances sonores.

Excellent location right in the middle of Nice historic centre and only minutes to the beach. It is also close to lots of restaurants and also the tram which will take you up to the main train station in minutes. Everything was provided for a comfortable stay and the apartment was very clean and check in went smoothly.

As the unit is on the 4th floor with no lift there were well over 100 stairs to our apartment. The unit is very compact which was ok but getting into the shower was difficult as it had a very small opening and may be challenging for some people.

Location is unbeatable.

Unfortunately we found this room to be very poor value. £167 for one night is not reflective of the standard provided. 115 steps to reach the room (only to be aware of if mobility is a concern) and a key/door that is tricky to open and if you have reduced dexterity you might struggle to open. Strange smell across the whole floor, and inside the room. Slightly stale, mixed with drains (egg). We had to have the oven extractor fan on to try and freshen the air. Giant fridge takes up a large amount of already limited space, especially getting around the other side of the bed. Bed/mattress was not comfortable. Felt like a cheap bed you find in someone’s spare room. Rigid and thin. Bed linens not so soft, snuggly. Same for towels. Shower doors don’t quite close, and the shower cubicle itself is tiny. Be careful so that the floor doesn’t get soaked. Curtains super thin and let in all the light in the morning, bring an eye mask if you’re sensitive. For the room price, a bottle of water/milk would be welcoming. Didn’t see any coffee/tea, but didn’t look very hard so maybe they were hidden somewhere. Even if there was, no bottled water/milk to prepare. Most of all, did not appreciate receiving an email asking us to leave maximum scores for the stay because “booking.com are striving for excellence”. I would rather that businesses strive to BE excellent so that guests can leave honest maximum scores. I always leave fair reviews, based on what I encounter. We stayed in a gorgeous hotel in Menton the 2 nights before this stay which cost £200/night and was sheer luxury in comparison. I’d have given max reviews if this room was priced 50% less, because that’s the standard currently on offer.
