The Cave

It was amazing! Pradeep met us at the airport, and after a couple of hours, we found ourselves in another world. In the morning, we found ourselves in a fairy tale. The house itself is a million memories. Every detail is thoughtfully designed. Everything is made from natural materials, with love and respect for nature. Comfortable beds, very clean linens. We had a wonderful program to explore local life. And the river – we were as happy as children swimming in it! A million photos and videos can't fully capture the beauty of this place, the hearts and souls of the wonderful people who stayed with us for two days! Ask me – would you recommend us to go there? My answer is – Yes! Yes! Yes!

From the moment we arrived, The Cave felt like a hidden paradise. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, and the attention to detail in every corner of the property was just next level. What stood out the most? The atmosphere — peaceful, rustic, and surrounded by nature in its purest form. Breakfast? Simply phenomenal. Fresh tropical fruits, home-baked goodies, and authentic Sri Lankan flavors made every morning a treat. I still dream about that coconut sambol! Location-wise, it was perfect. Tucked away enough to feel secluded, yet easily accessible. We loved being able to explore nearby trails and waterfalls, and then return to a cozy, tranquil retreat.

What could’ve been better? Honestly, it’s hard to fault anything. If I had to pick, maybe a couple more signboards on the route there would help first-timers.

The place is such a cool idea. The cave walls inside are really unique and the stairs inside are amazing. Balconies and outside space is beautiful. The views are STUNNING and just incredible. You feel totally remote and isolated. For those who love hiking and the outdoors this is a great stay. The food was homemade, plentiful, and delicious!!

I would call this glamping more than a room stay. The place doesn’t have glass windows (just shutters) which lets all the bugs in. No bug nets. So we got eaten alive even with deet. Not a lot of sleep because of bugs on our faces. Sadly there were many ant nests that took over the toilets, sinks, and shower tap. Additionally some small touches could be improved - there were bulbs that didn’t work, clock out of batteries, small things like that. The owner was not on site and the groundskeepers did not speak English. They were very kind and super accommodating, but no English made arrival and food a bit tricky. Without signage for the place we had no idea if we were in the right location. There is no internet (dialog) at the cave so communicating with the owner was not possible for us. Overall I think this has so much potential, but for a westerner (from UK), this was a tough stay for us. Lastly, be advised if you are older, it is a walk up many stairs to the property and the river is a good walk away.
