Blue Birds Tissa & Yala safari

Priya is a top notch host. He picked us from the bus stop and then in the evening he took us for bird tours. He showed us an owl at his friend's plan then showed us a crocodile near a lake and bats. We saw birds with his binoculars. This evening tour was free from him We planned yala safari with him In the evening he took us to the hospital and the hospital gave us a discount for a dressing as well because he had connections. He sat there with us until the dressing was done. He dropped us off at restaurants as well for free. And then the next day he asked his friend to drop us off at the bus stop for free as well. We couldn't be happier. Thank you Priya Ps. The passion fruit juice he made for breakfast was awesom.

​We had an incredible stay! The room was spotless, fully equipped with all necessary amenities, and had vital AC—which is a must given how humid Tissamaharama gets. ​What truly made our stay standout was the unbelievable hospitality. The host went above and beyond for us: he picked us up from the bus stand in his tuk-tuk and dropped us back off completely free of charge, even helping us board our next bus! ​We also booked our Yala National Park safari through him, and it was the highlight of our trip. Our jeep driver was fantastic and worked tirelessly so we could spot a leopard, which we finally did! To top it all off, we had a delicious home-cooked Sri Lankan dinner at the hotel.

Nothing Really.

Great stay here, hosts were very friendly and welcoming. Priya took us out in his Tuk-Tuk for a drive to spot local wildlife on our first night free of charge. He is very knowledgable and it’s clear he is passionate about the animals. We also had dinner here both nights, a beautiful spread of Sri Lankan food prepared by his wife and a few beers, all for a very good price. The room was nice, had a comfortable bed and great air conditioning. We also had our own Tuk-Tuk and were able to park this inside the gate to the property so we knew it was safe. Priya also gave us binoculars for our safari the following day.

The bathroom had a really strong sick like odour in it. The drawer inside the unit in the room had cockroaches in it and lots of droppings. We found two in the room which we removed and wondered where they were coming from, that’s when we pulled out the drawer. The hairdryer was also in here, so after seeing this my partner was unable to use it after washing her hair. We also booked a Yala Safari through here which was overall quite disappointing. No introduction made by driver upon pick up, just a morning. No hello how are you, are you ready for a good day, my name is, still don’t know his name as he never told us. Throughout the day there was no passion shown whatsoever, which for something like this you would expect given the experience. Communication was poor. Driver would roll down window and shouted to us in the back but nobody in our group could hear or understand him. There was a couple of times he said look and said an animals name which no one knew what it was and he didn’t explain. He also referred to water monitors as iguanas and hornbills as toucans……..There was no itinerary provided whatsoever. Would have been nice to know what was happening with the day concerning toilet breaks and lunch, but we were kept in the dark the whole day. Lunch was provided by Blue Birds Tissa as when we were picked up, the driver was handed the lunch by our hosts, we knew the food would be lovely having had dinner the night before. However, the driver did not wash his hands with soap before preparing our food. We got to the lunch location and he said to us if you want to wash your hands , I’ll prepare the food. We walked round to the sinks and he was in front of us, going to do the same. I got to the sinks and he was rinsing his hands with just water, I said no soap? He said washrooms round the corner. So we went round as our hands were filthy with the dust from the roads, but he didn’t. I never ate the lunch after seeing this.

Cheap Good wifi

Host very unkind. We arrived at 8.30 pm after telling in advance and they were angry at us. Very unwellcome Very complicated to get there, google maps took us to a difficult path to get there almost falling to the lake… They didn’t tell us the goog way although we spoke to them 2 hours before going
