Elegant Lake Yala Safari House

I feel like no words will ever do this place justice. Myself and my partner stayed here for 3 nights and chose it because of the great reviews we read online. And it did not disappoint, if anything it was better than expected. First of all Randy is an incredible host, he goes out of his way to make sure you have everything you need and are having an enjoyable stay including fresh fruit and juice on arrival, ice cream and fruit when we returned from the safari and he took us on a tour around his lake telling us all about his village and showing us the birds. On our last day we didn’t have many plans so Randy took us to a weaving factory, museum and rice producer which was so nice to visit some interesting lesser known local spots. Randy gave us tuk tuk rides whenever he was available, dropping us off and picking us up from dinner. Our room was impeccably clean and beautifully presented, was spacious, light and had a gorgeous view of the trees and birds. We booked the safari through Randy and the driver was amazing going out of his way to ensure we were able to see a leopard and Randy packed us a great breakfast for the tour. All in all I would 100% recommend this place, Randy and his lovely family make you feel at home and were the best hosts and accommodation we had on our whole trip in Sri Lanka. It really does live up to the reviews.

Nothing at all

We stayed at Elegant Lake House for one night while visiting Yala National Park for a safari. Looking back, one night was far too short because the stay exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Randy and his mother. She greeted us with a plate of fresh pineapple, starfruit, chips, and a refreshing drink. Shortly afterwards, Randy took us on a complimentary tuk-tuk tour around the town, which even felt like a mini safari. We had never experienced this level of hospitality before—it truly made us feel at home. The room is modern, spacious, and equipped with everything you need. The bed is large and very comfortable, the bathroom features a modern shower, and the air conditioning works perfectly. You can also choose between a lake view or a garden view. A lovely personal touch is that many of the furnishings, from the bed linens to the curtains, are handmade by Randy’s wife. Since we had an early morning safari, we couldn’t enjoy the full breakfast, but Randy thoughtfully prepared a breakfast package along with bottled water for us to take on our trip. In short, we highly recommend Elegant Lake House. Randy goes above and beyond to make sure his guests have an unforgettable stay, and his genuine kindness and hospitality are truly exceptional. We sincerely hope to return to Sri Lanka one day, and when we do, we will definitely stay with Randy for a few more nights.

I loved how Randy welcomed us, so warm and exceptional i must say. His way of greeting guests and exceptional customer experience is to be called out. Place was amazing and such value for the money paid. Clean beautiful and colourful.

There is nothing i disliked about the place

Wow, what an amazing experience we had here. If you are interested in wildlife and nature then absolutely look no further and book to stay here now if it is available, as this is the perfect spot. Randy went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was extremely special. We heard about his place from friends who came back to the UK raving about the experience they had with him, but to be honest our stay was even better than I had anticipated. Without saying too much and ruining some of the magic, Randy is an incredibly thoughtful and enthusiastic guy who will go to great lengths to ensure your stay is memorable. The accommodation is in a lovely spot right next to a lake which is teeming with nature. The apartment was comfortable and very clean. The safari that Randy organised for us was excellent and we saw a fascinating array of wildlife including elephants, leopards and a whole host of interesting local birds. We can’t commend his approach highly enough and wish him all the best going forwards.
