Lake Ibis

The room and services exceeded the expectation. On the night upon our arrival, the hsot had already asked about our dinner preferences and prepared everything so we could relax and enjoy the meal right after the safari. - Room: spacious enough for multiple suitcases, with kettle, refrigerator, and kitchenware provided. The air-conditioner and fan worked well to cool the room, you may want to switch them off with just a thin sheet at night. The bed was large and comfortable, and the room was clean, tidy and bug-free. Convenient sockets were placed by the bedside and in the lounge area. - Bathroom: designed with a jungle theme, it felt like bathing in the wild. Small frogs often appeared near the sink or toilet-nothing to fear, as they are part of wildlife. Just remember to close the toilet lid to keep them out. Toiletries, hair dryer and towels are provided though only cold water was available. Cleanliness was well maintained. - Food: the dining area faces the lake, making it a perfect spot to relax while enjoying meals and drinks. Portions were generous, so better request smaller servings to avoid food waste during their difficult times. - Carpark: parking was right in front of the room, making it safer and convenient to manage your belongings. - Service: the host was friendly, talkative and knowledgeable on recognizing the birds as he worked as a guide before. He shared the books and encouraged us to record the species sighting from the lake on the dining wall. He was always ready the food for us, so you won’t get hungry after the trip. - Location: just one step from the lake which is the easiest spot to catch the sunrise and sunset, and watch the birds flying in the early morning. This privilege the nearby hotel, which requires you to walk across their fences, can’t offer.

- Room: some sockets are still using the three round pins, an adaptor might need. - Dining area: Dining by the lake can attract mosquitoes. - Bathroom: use the curtain and mat to avoid slipping after a shower. - Location: not their fault, but the music festival held on the far side of the lake was too noisy until 2am. This noise pollution should reflect to the government which truly affected other tourists and the local people.

Amazing host, very kind! Beautiful surroundings and nice, comfortable and clean rooms. We felt very welcomed and had an amazing stay. Highly recommend!

Matratze für mein Empfinden etwas hart.

De kamer is prachtig! Groot, schoon, goed werkende airco, schitterende douche en koelkast. Uitzicht op het meer hoef je niet te boeken, want je wil de gordijnen dicht houden. Anders kijkt iedereen naar binnen.

Dit was ons minst fijne verblijf, vooral vanwege de opdringerige eigenaar. Dit hebben we bij geen enkel ander verblijf in Sri Lanka meegemaakt. Hij probeerde ook extra kosten in rekening te brengen, maar gelukkig waren we hierop voorbereid door eerdere reviews. Bij het boeken stond vermeld dat het ontbijt inbegrepen was (wij hadden de duurdere deluxe kamer), maar in de bevestiging werd dit nergens genoemd. Uiteindelijk hoefden we hier niet extra voor te betalen, maar het blijft vervelend. Je wilt gewoon een onbezorgde vakantie, maar bij deze eigenaar had je continu het gevoel dat je op je hoede moest zijn. Daarnaast vroeg de eigenaar onze tuktuk-driver om ons te laten uitleggen waarom we niet bij hem wilden eten. Dit voelde erg opdringerig en ongemakkelijk. En zo waren er nog een paar vervelende situaties. En dan het bed… Het was zó hard dat het voelde alsof we op de grond sliepen. We hebben zelfs onder het laken gekeken, en het leek wel op een matras, maar we hebben nog nooit eerder zoiets gevoeld. Hierdoor hebben we slecht geslapen. Al met al een teleurstellende ervaring.
