The breakfast was freshly cooked and piping hot. Christine and Ant went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. We felt very welcome nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were decorated to a high standard and spotless, I would recommend to anyone who wants to visit Whitby or the surrounding areas. Thanks Christine and Ant for a lovely stay.

The rooms and facilities were clean The smoked salmon at breakfast was locally smoked and very delicious

The listing (described as having a private bathroom) included a picture of an ensuite bathroom with a toilet, hand basin and shower. But once I had paid and checked in I was confronted with an external toilet down the hall, passed two other rooms, and on the stairwell landing. I did not consider this very private or convenient. The owner was also quite unrelentingly insistent that a private bathroom and an ensuite were not the same, and I must have known this because I made the booking. Communication via the booking.com messaging function was difficult with this property, they refused to answer or confirm basic questions in advanced (e.g. what time is breakfast (not in their listing info) was met with "we'll cover that at check in), which made making plans unnecessarily awkward.
