The whole experience communicating with the host felt unproffesional, uncomfortable and deceitful. I strongly advise against this accommodation as there are so many good alternatives in Genova.

The host requested a deposit outside the booking platform after confirming the reservation and manipulated the city tax with inflated values.

A run-down apartment with a disproportionately high security deposit (€748) and other ridiculous penalties. Stay away, it's a scam.

The appartmant was super, the host welcomed us personally. There is a billiard, large TV. The beds are comfortable. Everything went well.

⚠️ Attenzione! Richiedono un deposito cauzionale di 748 € — senza di esso non vi faranno entrare e non vi restituiranno i soldi! Ho pagato per questo appartamento, ma non ci hanno fatto entrare! E non mi hanno restituito i soldi! Io e i miei figli siamo rimasti in strada nel cuore della notte. Quando ho prenotato, ho visto il prezzo di 75 € e ho completato subito la prenotazione. I soldi sono stati prelevati immediatamente. Dopo, ho ricevuto le istruzioni per il check-in, dove era scritto che dovevo pagare un deposito cauzionale di 748 €! Inoltre, bisognava compilare un modulo lunghissimo, inserendo tutti i dati personali di ogni ospite, compreso il paese di nascita, i numeri di passaporto, le foto dei documenti e persino le foto di tutti gli ospiti (anche dei BAMBINI!), firmando elettronicamente e fornendo molte altre informazioni inutili. Il modulo si è bloccato a metà, quindi non sono nemmeno riuscita a completarlo. Se decidete di pagare il deposito, preparatevi a passare circa un’ora per compilare quel modulo. E se si blocca, nessuno vi risponderà! Ho provato a contattare il proprietario su WhatsApp e per telefono — nessuna risposta. Mi hanno risposto solo tramite i messaggi di Booking. Nonostante le mie richieste di cancellare la prenotazione — perché semplicemente non avevo 748 € per una sola notte con check-in alle 19:00, e anche se avevo già pagato la stanza — il proprietario ha detto: «Sono affari suoi.» I soldi non mi sono stati restituiti! L’assistenza di Booking.com non ha fatto nulla. Hanno detto che, siccome l’informazione sul deposito era da qualche parte nella descrizione (ben nascosta), era colpa mia per non averla letta. Hanno anche ammesso che queste lamentele sono frequenti! Sembra quindi una nuova truffa: abbassano improvvisamente il prezzo il giorno stesso per attirare chi cerca all’ultimo momento. The payment went through immediately. After that, I received the check-in instructions, which said I had to pay a security deposit of €748! They also demanded that I fill out a long form, entering all personal details for each guest — including country of birth, passport numbers, photos of all documents and even photos of all guests (including CHILDREN!), plus an electronic signature and many more unnecessary details. The form stopped working halfway through, so I couldn’t even finish it. If you decide to pay the deposit, be prepared to spend about an hour filling out that form. And if it stops working — no one will help you! I tried to contact the owner via WhatsApp and by phone — no answer. They only replied through Booking messages. Despite my requests to cancel the reservation — because I simply didn’t have €748 for a one-night stay starting at 7 p.m., and even though I had already paid for the room — the owner said: “That’s your problem.” I never got my money back! Booking.com support did nothing. They said since the deposit information was somewhere in the listing (hidden deep in the description), it was my fault for not reading it. They also admitted that similar complaints happen often! So this looks like a new scam: they sharply lower the price on the same day to attract desperate last-minute guests.
