Sweet As Suite

VERY cosy and EXTREMELY thoughtfully presented downstairs unit, looking out through full-length folding glass doors onto a charming little garden. The bushes were full of Tauhou (Silver Eye) for my early Winter stay. Great shower, very comfortable bed, and a lovely stock of books for downtime. Kitchen facilities are modest, but Ponsonby/Herne Bay cafes and restaurants are only a block or so away. Perfect location for a central Auckland stay: far enough away from city noise and bustle, yet still close by to everything. Alex and Paul are wonderful hosts: friendly, helpful, and very considerate.

The property is lovely overall, and this is meant purely as constructive feedback. As someone staying alone, I found the lack of privacy blinds on the windows a little uncomfortable. Because there was side access around the property, I didn’t feel comfortable leaving any blinds open or windows uncovered, even though the home backs onto a private yard. I ended up keeping the blockout blinds closed and the lights on most of the time for privacy, which made the stay feel less relaxing than it could have been. I also would have appreciated a small table or workspace for a laptop, as there wasn’t really anywhere practical to sit and work. The decor is beautiful, though there were quite a lot of decorative items throughout, which at times felt a little overwhelming in a smaller space. Lastly, the tea and coffee facilities felt a little limited. I had to go through quite a few tea bags to find a standard English Breakfast tea. Small additions in this area would make the experience feel even more comfortable and welcoming. Overall, the property is beautiful, and I offer this feedback kindly in the hope it helps improve future stays.
