Quiet Old House with Garden in Botafogo

The house is over 100 years old and has a beautiful atmosphere. The house is naturally cool so in August, when I visited, even on hot days one does not need a fan or air conditioning. The surroundings are quiet, no noise of cars at night. The surroundings are green. There is a small place to sit outside in the shade of trees surrounded by birds such as humming birds attracted to a nearby feeder. The house has quite a lot of space inside. The landlady lives next door and is very friendly and helpful. The house is not directly on the main street. There is a well-equipped kitchen with a gas stove.

Visitors should be prepared for the fact that this is an old house: the only running hot water is the shower and there is a fan but no air conditioning. Also the windows do not close perfectly which may allow the odd mosquito to enter the house. After the first week I started to have one or two mosquitos bothering me at night, which was however perfectly resolved with a mosquito net.
