The holiday home is quiet in a rural location, just 15 mins drive to Raglan. The place is tastefully decorated with beautiful paintings and furnishings. I liked the interior design, rustic yet cosy.
The holiday home has no heat pump. We arrived on a hot day, nearly 30c and would like to have air conditioning inside the holiday home. The property did provide a fan which was helpful. Opening windows would make the home more comfortable but we didn't like flies getting inside the property, I guess that is part of the charm staying in a rural property. Also, it was a 3km drive on a gravel road to the property.

Okioki Stay Rural Escape was absolutely beautiful and exactly what we needed. From the moment we arrived, the peace and stillness of the surroundings made it feel like a true retreat from everyday life. The setting is stunning with wide open rural views, fresh air, and a sense of calm you don’t find easily.
The accommodation itself was immaculate, thoughtfully set up, and incredibly comfortable. Every detail felt intentional, making the stay both relaxing and special.
What truly stood out was how welcoming and thoughtful the hosts were, especially in accommodating my 2-year-old niece. The toy selection available for her was amazing and so well considered, she was thoroughly entertained the entire time, which made the stay even more enjoyable and stress-free for best friend and I. It was clear a lot of care had gone into making the space family friendly without taking away from the peaceful atmosphere.
Overall, the experience was incredibly restorative. A place to slow down, breathe, and truly unwind. Whether you’re looking for a quiet getaway, time to reconnect, or a family-friendly rural escape, Okioki Stay delivers beautifully.
We left feeling refreshed and grateful for the experience, and we will absolutely be back. Highly recommend to anyone seeking a peaceful rural escape.
Possibly some fly / bug spray would be helpful.

This is an exceptionally nice place to stay. The decor is very cool and it’s very comfortable and calm.
