East Wing at Champaignes Toft, Mendlesham

The property is located in the middle of nowhere and surrounded by open fields and gardens. Given its location, we had peace and quiet in abounds and that was the idea! Stunning wildlife and birds, from the lounge window and the kitchen. The property is well appointed and clearly only the best will do, from bedding to towels and soft furnishings, very comfortable!

Unfortunately the garden is not fully contained, so we had to take the dogs out into the garden on leads, but on speaking to the owners, it is their intention to address that issue. In the main bedroom there is no option to open a window for fresh air as it has french doors, that open onto the owners garden, not ideal, but again the owners are looking at ideas, on request they let us have a key to open the doors to let some air in! The shower head in the bathroom, would not stay in the holder. The vacuum cleaner in the cottage, absolutely pinged when we tried to use it, maybe filter needs washing or a new bag??

Tranquil, comfortable & very clean.

The garden would be so much prettier with a few colourful pots & nicer patio furniture (there is a picnic bench), ideal for eating, but, not relaxing!

Very clean and well presented. Had everything we needed.

Rural location, unhindered views. Beautiful sunrises. Lots of duck and birds. Very quiet. Clear unpolluted night sky. The cottage was very clean. It was cold outside and we could adjust the radiator if required. There were 2 small problems the host fixed them immediately: we asked for an ironing board and iron; the battery on the remote was dead. Very private

Not enough crockery or cutlery. Not enough glasses. Could not have a 3 course meal for 4 with what was provided. Did not get to grips with the hob. Ended up cooking at my brother's rental cottage in Mickfield that was much better resourced and a simpler hob.
