Clodagh was one of our favourite stays of the trip. The house itself is beautiful, with almost 200 years of history, but it never feels like you are staying in a museum. It still feels warm, lived in and incredibly comfortable, and the team are a huge part of that. Nalinda, the manager, looked after us so well and was always happy to share more about the property and the area. One of the highlights of our stay was actually a walk around the 90 acre estate with Nalinda himself. We wandered through the pepper, cacao, coffee and rubber plantations, as well as the vegetable gardens, and it gave us a completely different appreciation for the property and everything happening around the house. Ajith was wonderfully funny and attentive and always seemed to appear at exactly the right moment, usually with tea or something we did not realise we needed. Kushan, the young chef, was another highlight. We asked for Sri Lankan food throughout our stay and his cooking had such a lovely light touch. The curries, vegetables and local dishes were full of flavour without ever feeling heavy. We also loved simply spending time at the house. The grassed inner courtyard became one of our favourite places to sit with a book and a cup of tea and do absolutely nothing for a while. Then there is the pool. It feels completely different from the old house, a very modern piece of luxury sitting out amongst the forest canopy, but somehow the contrast works perfectly. You can swim surrounded by jungle and then walk back into a house with nearly two centuries of history. What we probably loved most about Clodagh was how easy it was to slow down there. Between the courtyard, the gardens, the estate walks, the pool, the food and the people looking after us, we never felt any need to rush off and fill the day with sightseeing. It is refined without feeling formal and luxurious without trying too hard. We felt genuinely looked after from the moment we arrived.
Too many views to enjoy, places to sit and slow down, we didn't have enough time.

We had an amazing experience at Clodagh Manor! Staff were exceptional going out of their way to make our stay comfortable. The property is British colonial and very well maintained, decorated , and very spacious both inside and out (we were given a tour of the gardens which included orchards of cocoa, rubber trees, mangos, pepper, cinnamon etc). The views are to die for! The property is set on a hillside away from the hustle and bustle of nearby towns/ villages. We had a beautiful room with view over the Knuckle Ranges. We chose half board and the breakfasts and dinners were fantastic, with the staff catering to what you would like to eat/try. The pool was beautiful, gorgeous outlook. So many places to chill out on the property whether on the front verandah, courtyard, garden, poolside or in the lovely drawing rooms. A must try is the delicious lime soda made fresh. Our driver stayed on site also which was great.
Nothing!! We had a driver so the remoteness of the property was perfect for us.
