Lekham Walauwa

A staff was an amazing and helped me as I needed. I would go back there if he is there. The location was a way from the busy area and it was nice walk to a Buddha statue on the top of the mountain. Highly recommend! A super friendly dog,Sally!

The place was clean, but was little scared at night.

We had a lovely stay at Lekham Walauwa and felt it offered excellent value for money. The room was set within a beautiful colonial-style building, full of character and charm. It felt special staying somewhere with so much history and atmosphere. There was also a really nice chill-out space, complete with a hammock — perfect for relaxing in the afternoons. The service was warm and friendly throughout our stay, and we really appreciated the thoughtful touches. Having free use of the washing machine was a huge bonus while travelling, and the complimentary breakfast provided on the day we were leaving was such a kind gesture.

The only downside is that it’s about a 30-minute walk into the main town of Matale. However, if you don’t mind the walk or take a quick tuk tuk, it’s absolutely worth it for the peaceful setting and character of the property.

Insgesamt können wir die sehr hohen Bewertungen nur zum Teil bestätigen. Sehr freundliches Personal, der als Operations Manager vor Ort im vorab WhatsApp Kontakt mit den Besitzern bezeichnete junge Mann, war extrem hilfsbereit und höflich. Er hat uns viele tolle Tipps gegeben für Ausflüge in der Gegend und uns sogar sein Tuk-Tuk ausgeliehen. Er war immer für uns ansprechbar und hat seine Hilfe angeboten. Besten Dank an diesen engagierten Mann!!! Er war dazu super kinderlieb und die Unterkunft ist auch sehr Kindertauglich. Das Essen war wahnsinnig köstlich, sehr authentisch und traditionell und für 800 LKR pro Mahlueit pro Person auch ein sehr fairer Preis. Es gibt Warmwasser inkl Wasserfilter in der Dusche.

Es hat an sehr vielen Stellen durch das Dach geregnet, siehe Fotos. Teilweise sogar in den Zimmern. Die Unterkunft war zwar nicht direkt dreckig aber durch den reinen beton Fußboden und die offene Veranda (ohne Schuhe zu betreten weil schon zum haus gehörig) waren die Füße schnell sehr schmutzig und im Zimmer war es dadurch auch schnell nicht mehr sauber. Unser Zimmer ging direkt von der offenen Veranda ab, da die Zimmertür nur eine sehr alte , schlecht schließende Holztür war (siehe Fotos), die man von innen nicht abschließen konnte, war das Sicherheitsgefühl zumindest in der ersten Nacht nicht gegeben. Es gibt aber zwei Hunde die aufpassen. Der Strom fiel mehrfach am Tag aus und das WLAN war eine Katastrophe, lieber auf eine eSIM setzen um die nächsten Ausflüge zu planen.
