Lawani Resort

The hotel is very nicely landscaped, with a view of rice terraces. The location is also great with plenty of possibilities to explore rice fields and the local villages on foot on small paths and roads without the need of taking taxi rides. It is also close to the local village market and a stone's throw from a really nice restaurant/bar "Asiki". The main swimming pool is very spacious, beautifully designed and not very crowded. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and very responsive to the slightest questions via what's app. The beds were very comfortable and the villas look nice. The Mount Batur sunrise summit organised by the hotel was great.

First, there is some discrepancy between the photos on booking.com and the reality. After being there at the hotel, it is now clear that the photos of rice field view villas with private pool show in fact two different types of villas: villas with a bit more space on the outside and more privacy protection, but with shower over bath and bathrooms separated with the outside just with a curtain, and villas with little to no privacy outside (less outside space) but with separate showers and properly isolated bathrooms (or so it seems from the outside). This was not clear to us and we got the villa with shower over bath, which would not have been our choice. It would have been better if the different villa types were indicated when booking. Second, the villas are a bit dated. There are very few sockets in the room, there is little light overall in the bedroom and in the bathroom, very little space in the wardrobe (and no light in it). Third, the cleanliness could be improved. While the water in the private pool seemed clean, there was a lot of debris in the pool which wasn't removed and as soon as the water circulation was turned on, all the debris would be floating everywhere in the pool. Also, there were a lot of gecko droppings inside the room and also in the spaces outside. Fourth, the Cultural Journey hike was a big disappointment. The walk is advertised as a way to learn about local culture, but also about community-based local irrigation for the rice fields. The guide we got, shared barely any information with us (he also didn't speak good English, which didn't help). One is better off just going for a hike alone in the paths around the hotel.

We had a wonderful stay at Lawani Resort. The location is absolutely beautiful, peaceful, and surrounded by nature, offering a truly authentic Balinese experience away from the crowds. It was exactly what we were looking for: relaxation, tranquility, and a complete change of scenery. The massage was excellent, the food and drinks were delicious, and the entire property is beautifully maintained. The staff were incredibly attentive, kind, and always willing to help find solutions whenever needed

The only small drawback is the distance from Bali’s main attractions and tourist areas. However, this is also part of what makes the resort so peaceful and unique. Guests should simply keep this in mind when booking and plan transportation accordingly.

The staff is amazing! They are really helpful with everything from food to transport and tours. A lot of options in the restaurant, amazing massage, and a really good location for relaxing.

It is a bit far away from things. It is perfect for relaxing away from the busy areas but it does mean that a lot of tours, taxi rides, or motorbike rental are needed for getting around. They are really helpful with these things though and they even provide daily transfer to Ubud so it's not really a problem. Most of the time it was actually a benefit since it just made the stay so much more relaxing.
