We arrived on an early morning flight at around 5AM after an exhausting, hours-long journey — and I was genuinely unwell by the time we reached the hotel, dealing with stomach issues that made it difficult to even stand.
Our official check-in wasn't until 3PM, but when we arrived at the hotel around 6AM, we were immediately and warmly greeted by Francesca. I explained my situation and asked whether an early check-in might be possible. Within 10 to 15 minutes, the hotel had a room ready for me — a gesture I cannot overstate how much I appreciated in that moment. I was able to rest, take my medication, and recover properly.
We did encounter a minor issue with the original room, and without any fuss, the hotel upgraded us to a beautiful corner room. A kind and generous touch.
For anyone planning a trip to Santiago, Chile, there is no shortage of hotels to choose from across every budget and neighbourhood. But having stayed at our fair share of properties across Chile and around the world, I can say with confidence that Debaines is in a class of its own. It is an elegant, boutique five-star hotel ideally located in the heart of the city, with upscale neighbourhoods like Las Condes and Vitacura just a short Uber ride away — perfect for couples looking to explore.
What truly sets this hotel apart is the service. Attentive without being intrusive — every time we settled somewhere in the hotel, water appeared almost instantly. It is the kind of quiet, intuitive hospitality that larger hotels rarely manage to replicate.
This small boutique property is everything a five-star hotel should be, and frankly, something many larger five-star hotels should aspire to. Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so welcoming. We will absolutely be back.
