Akohara Buahan Village Retreat

We only spent 4 nights there

We absolutely loved our stay at Akohara Hotel. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome — everyone was so kind, attentive and genuinely helpful throughout our entire stay. The bungalow was beautiful and very comfortable, nestled in the middle of the jungle. The whole property feels like a lush rainforest retreat: extremely peaceful, green and tranquil, with very few guests, which made the experience feel very private and exclusive. The pool area is stunning and blends perfectly into the surrounding nature — a wonderful place to relax and unwind. The food was excellent: breakfast was a real highlight with amazing choices, beautifully presented and delicious. Dinner was also consistently very good. Because the hotel is located deep in nature, there are of course many animals around. We were quite surprised by the cicadas — they were extremely loud, especially at night. We had to use ear protection to sleep, and we were sometimes woken up during the night by their sound. Occasionally, cicadas even made their way into our room, which was not ideal. However, the staff were always very quick, friendly and helpful in assisting us in the evenings, which we truly appreciated. There is also a small gym, beautifully nestled in the rainforest near the river (on the 7th floor, which is actually at ground level). It’s a very nice and scenic space, although rather small with limited equipment. The hotel has seven levels in total, and we stayed on the 3rd floor, which was perfect — it allowed us to avoid using the inclinators all the time. Overall, Akohara Hotel offers a truly special jungle experience: peaceful, immersive, beautifully designed and very personal. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a serene, nature-focused getaway.

Pretty new hotel, nice views, lots of nature, great breakfast and restaurant in general

- Most (all) villas have a pool, which turned on water circulation/cleaning or smth like that 6am everyday for 1-2h, impossible to sleep, I complained, but was not fixed - Stairs to villa very steep, elevator slow, have to wait - Location not very central, as Bali traffic is terrible, so takes long time for anything - Staff very willing and generally nice, but young and inexperienced (submitted laundry, received back somebody else clothing)

This resort was honestly one of the nicest places we've ever stayed. We will come back in a heartbeat. From the stunning views, to the gorgeous team and beautiful food - it was truly just so amazing. We went for our honeymoon and didn't want to leave.

Insects and creatures in the bedroom

We had an amazing stay at Akohara. It was our first time in Bali and staying at this resort made us feel like royalty. All staff were so kind and went out of their way to make our stay delightful. The location was beautiful, it felt like we were in paradise. The main pool was always a divine temperature, perfect for a swim after breakfast or to have afternoon tea by the pool. The room was relaxing, gorgeous and private. The food from the restaurant was incredible, every meal we had was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. The resort has everything you need, but if you would want shopping or an amazing steak, it's easy to arrange a driver to take you with a sensational steak restaurant only twenty minutes away. We cannot praise this place enough. We are so happy we found this place!

There was nothing we didn't like about the resort. Only thing we'd change is, we got a general driver from the airport through booking.com, but I would recommend getting the shuttle from Akohara, the car is luxurious!
