Both are two-story maisonette apartments situated in the idyllic pedestrian zone within a fully restored, historic building. Rising above the city rooftops, the apartments captivate with their exposed roof structure and historic truss work. The sanded-down beams on the upper floor—accessible via a spiral staircase—lend the space a charming and cozy atmosphere.
You’ll look out onto the pedestrian zone and enjoy a unique bird’s-eye view of the beautiful historic neighboring houses and the Old Historic Town Hall. In the same building, you’ll also find a multi-award-winning bookstore that invites you to browse. Merzig offers a wide variety of recreational activities for visitors. The city is nestled amid beautiful natural surroundings, ideal for hiking, biking, and walking. There are numerous hiking trails in the Merzig area, such as the Saar-Hunsrück-Steig or the Cloef-Pfad, which offer breathtaking views of the Saar Valley and the surrounding forests. You can also enjoy wonderful bike rides along the Saar River and take in the picturesque landscape.
For culture lovers, Merzig hosts regular concerts, theater performances, and exhibitions, and the reservoir in Losheim is also easily accessible. A visit to the Fellenberg Castle Municipal Museum, which offers insight into the town’s history, is also well worth it.
An absolute highlight is the Garden of the Senses. Seeing, smelling, touching, and hearing—on Merzig’s Kreuzberg, visitors can enjoy the experience with all their senses. Merzig has good transportation connections. The city has a train station with regular train service to Saarbrücken, Saarlouis, Mettlach (Villeroy & Boch), Saarburg, and Trier. You can reach Losheim and Wadern by bus. Luxembourg City, the capital of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, is also easily accessible by bus from Merzig. There, you can visit the historic old town, the Grand Ducal Palace, and numerous museums. A trip to the nearby Müllerthal region, also known as “Little Switzerland,” is also well worth it. Bus service to Luxembourg City runs hourly, so you can visit Luxembourg without worrying about parking. By the way, public transportation there is free. Luxembourg has its own airport. Merzig is easily accessible by car via the A8. From Merzig, you can quickly reach Lorraine with its idyllic countryside and the historic city of Metz.
Saarbrücken, the capital of the Saarland, is located only about 35 kilometers from Merzig. There you’ll find a wide variety of cultural attractions, such as museums, theaters, and concerts. Saarbrücken also offers plenty of shopping opportunities and restaurants.

Apartment Piatti:

Apartment Piatti is a two-story maisonette for 2–3 people in a historic townhouse. The kitchen, dining area, living room, reading nook, desk, guest restroom, and a small storage room are located on the lower level. A spiral staircase leads to the sleeping area with exposed timber beams. We have sanded down the old beams (although the ceiling is very high, you’ll need to duck slightly under some of the beams). Here you’ll find a double bed, a wardrobe, an armchair, a sleeper sofa (150 x 200 cm), and the bathroom. In the basement, you’ll find a washer and dryer, as well as a bike storage area. On-site fees: A prepayment of 20% of the total price may be charged at any time after booking werden.Im. The base price includes towels, bed linens, and Wi-Fi. Payment is due in cash no later than upon arrival; upon request, we can send you an invoice for payment by bank transfer. Pets (including small ones) are not permitted. A baby crib and high chair are available upon request. Please coordinate your check-in with me. Check-in begins at 3:00 p.m. Check-out is by 10:00 a.m. Our house is located in the pedestrian zone; the side entrance is on Friedrichstraße. Here, as well as in the town hall parking garage, there are paid parking spaces available for loading and unloading. Merzig’s parking regulations apply, for example, at the Stadthalle.
