I just loved the town of Oi-Guchi, it’s a tiny town maybe 10 minutes driving away from Hongu Taisha. There is a wonderful view overlooking the river valley and the loop walking around the town only takes about 25 minutes. Hikaru Sama and her assistant Jean were wonderful to us both. Both hosts are gregarious and kind with beautiful and easy laughter. I felt very lucky to have stumbled upon this stay. Hikaru Sama’s cooking is wonderful and as others stated she cooks with vegetables picked and washed in the early morning from her own garden. She prides herself on only cooking a dish once for a guest and then switching the dish up and she did not disappoint. Both the breakfast and dinner options were light, healthy, and delightful. Communication was solid, and Hikaru’s willingness to shuttle us to the bus stop and the Onsen I feel indebted for. Hikaru’s dedication to quality is evident via the cleanliness of the home and the quality of her meals. It was a true pleasure for us both.

Nothing stands out for us, the beds are firm but this was not an issue for either of us.

地元のお魚、お肉、山でとれたての旬の山菜、地元のお茶。何から何まで新鮮で、オーナーさんのこだわりの手作りに感動する美味しさでした。お味噌、梅干し、漬物、何から何まで手作りという贅沢さ！夕食も朝食もお弁当も最高でした！普段野菜を食べない友人たちが美味しい、美味しいと野菜も食べまくってました！熊野本宮付近まで車で迎えにきてくださり、そのまま温泉に連れて行ってくれました（もちろん入浴後のお迎えも）ぜひまたお伺いしたいです。

We experienced amazing hospitality and felt truly welcomed into the home. The facilities were lovely, with clean rooms and very comfortable beds, plus plenty of blankets to stay warm during the cold Japanese winter, and heating as well. While there are a few shared spaces, they only added to the charm and made our stay even more enjoyable. We would absolutely recommend this place!
