The location of the hotel is good, cleanliness, the bed was bigger than I thought, staff, free rental bicycle , free breakfast everything was good.

The staff were super helpful with local food recommendations and in securing me a taxi to the station on the day i left (needed to prebook for a very early trip).
Location is further from the station than i would have preferred but GREAT for food in the surrounding area. There is an award winning Italian restaurant on the ground floor and Yakiniku Hige down the road was DELISH. And a Family Mart just across the road.

I stayed at Gran Hotel for one night in December. The check in went very smoothly. The clerk spoke English which was helpful. The room is modest but clean. The decor throughout the building is a few decades old, but I did not get the impression that it was not clean. There is some ware that was noticeable in the bathroom, but otherwise everything was in good condition. The best part was the breakfast buffet- fried chicken, miso, rice, natto, lotus root, pickled plum. The second best part was that I was a short walk to the bus stop to catch the 51 bus to Hongucho. I would stay here again, considering how affordable it was to stay here.
