Dirty Shark Bay Hotel

I didn’t like the property, the facilities were unkept!

Upon arrival we found the freezer compartment frozen shut, it took some time to dislodge the draws without damaging them, the unit had been unoccupied and when we requested early check in at 14:00pm instead of 15:00pm I was surprised at how dirty the flooring was with hair on the floors from guests that had previously stayed. The showers were blocked with hair, the toilets were unclean with urine stains on the porcelain and there was a smell of effluent that hung in the air! The dinner plates were also dirty, when we discovered the main bedroom linen was stained we left a message on the call centre line! By 09:30am we had not heard back from senior management that were going to assist but then when I called back and reported the matter again we had three persons arrive from management when I was told the cleaning staff had no cleaning equipment to clean the gas hob! Lots of apologies followed but that’s where it ended, all magically restored upon departure, the guests from the UK 🇬🇧 I had thought differently!

The Hot tub was nice

First of all there were hidden costs for the hot tub, the place they advertise is no where near the ocean. They advertise it as a luxury villa. Which it is not, the facilities are basic. The fridge drawers fell out, we could not find the place as the numbers are hidden. There was hair left in the shower drain from previous guests. All in all not what i had in mind for our anniversary week end.

Dissapointing as we love visiting Shark Bay

The location is the reason we keep returning, stunning views

The service and attention to cleanliness was very disappointing. Reported the cleanliness and even on the second day after the cleaners were in none of the photos I shared had been addressed… The hot tub was not cleaned and filled prior to our arrival either. Very disappointing as this does not do the location justice.

Calm in nature with beautiful views

Check in was quick, informative and easy. The villa was nice for the 2 of us and we had everything we needed. The location was great and we drove maybe 3 mins to the beach for a swim. We loved how spacious the villa was.

A very disappointing experience. Dirty, poor maintenance/building and misleading location/privacy.

We had a very disappointing experience and I advised the management property contact of this as we got to our unit and again at reception on departure when handing our keys in. I reported this as well to them on their whatsapp line. Sadly management were not pro active and did not seem interested to resolve any of the issues alerted to them. They did not even come and check to see the state of our unit or check what we had reported to them. As we were leaving another guest seemed to have the same issues so this seems to not only have been for our unit or a one off. The location of Shark bay is extremely beautiful however the advertising is misleading in that the villa units are set very far back and only the hotel is closer to overlook the actual bay - a bit of a misrepresentation for the villa's being booked and expectation to what was advertised was not met. Our unit was the furthest away and it had multiple issues - the building and maintenance work was shocking. The cleanliness was even more shocking. There were multiple issues I reported: from a broken light, broken smoke detector, dirty linen and blankets, burn marks on the table, missing simple items like a kitchen cleaning cloth, oven gloves, can opener, missing cutlery and crockery. The braai dish was packed away in the oven but still dirty from the previous visitors. The fridge and freezer were dirty and had not been cleaned. Bathrooms were not properly cleaned. Floors were filthy. Overall the privacy is also a serious issue as if you have other visitors staying in your complex, your bedroom would overlook their braai and hot tub area, so privacy is really not good as there are 3 villas at each complex from what we could see and I expect you could have 3 different sets of people staying there at one time and so any privacy or feeling of seclusion and being in your own unit would be a struggle. The last issue is that the hot tub charges are extra and I dont believe that is mentioned prior to booking.

Extremely disappointing considering what we paid.

The bedrooms were well equipped and the lounge and kitchen are spacious.

We hired two Villas expecting them to be separate villas. They are more like apartments and I feel that what we paid was expensive. Also since we have NO a view of the lagoon and the villa is nowhere near the beach. The linen in one of the bedrooms in Villa 210 was dirty and there was cotton wool in the bed. Photo attached. The water feature was not working and we have a toddler so it was not hygienic. I booked a breakfast table several times and yet they couldn’t find our booking when we arrived. Breakfast was very basic and more of a BnB standard.

Amazing experience, as always

Unique location, simply beautiful. Always wonderful, friendly staff. Not my first time, not my last. Saw various wild animals from the balcony including ostriches, springboks, hares, herons…

It is at the border with real nature, so if you’re a light sleeper, you might have a little issue when the various birds start waking up every morning. But I went for nature, so it was great. Windows could do with a bit more cleaning so we could enjoy the views better.

Unfriendly & rude staff upon check in. Ridiculous policy regarding use of their hot tubs - literally a world 1st for everyone in our group. Never before heard of such a ridiculous concept of having to pay extra for this. Valuable item accidentally left behind at the unit, sporadically disappeared within an hour of our departure.

Beautiful but does not include hot tub use

The villa was massive, for sure an excellent option for large groups looking for a holiday spot. It was meticulously clean, well equipped and had the most incredible views! The bay is absolutely stunning and that alone makes this place worth it.

The bedroom I slept in had bats in the roof (sounded like it was in the closet) that kept me awake the whole night. I know it's in a natural area and would never want them to hurt the bats, but I also think it's important that guests should be able to get a comfortable night's rest. The fact that you have to pay for the hot tub on top of the asking price for the villa is absolutely ricidulous and unnecessary. I was not impressed when I called to ask about check-in and they informed me of this little detail. Not sure if I just missed it when booking or if it is not stated on the site.

Property was not safe, someone got into our villa and stole our belongings and food. When I went to report at the front desk the lady was rude. She told me there was nothing she was going to do and she was rolling her eyes at me when I spoke to her.

It’s a beautiful property in a nice location overlooking nature

When I arrived the floor was so wet that my kids slipped. I had to use a towel to dry it. When I then asked for a new towel they said they don’t refresh towels, which was okay as there were more towels. I also wasn’t able to call the reception from my villa as the call kept dropping, which was annoying as reception is quite far from the villas. But the worst is the theft that happened. When I left the property I forgot a special gift, my Calvin Klein blazer. I left it hanging in the cupboard. They absolutely deny having it. I eventually opened a case at the police station. Management kept telling me they search their staff as if that makes a difference. The villas are spread across a large piece of land and public roads so someone could absolutely steal something and get away with it. The absolute dismissal of it is what gets me. Especially because the item had sentimental value to me.

Did like being assisted when we enquired about ice as the ice trays in freezer had only 5 blocks of ice in.so housekeeping management slacks on that department. we loved the setup the comfortable furniture the big tv the internet access and all the kitchen accessories..Also loved the view. loved the comfortable beds and bedding and beautiful neat clean en suite.overall a wonderful retreat and will do it again.

Did not like that the hot tub was not filled and not started. it took very long to heat up to maximum. we also had to use much of our OWN starter planks to get it going.Apparently booking.com did NOT inform the hotel that we are paying for that feature. so no fault of the hotel.however the tub needs to be scrubbed as one could feel the hard dirt along the sides. there was one dirty or badly stained coffee mug, which we did bring to the attention at reception. Did not appreciate being phoned 15 mins later whilst driving away, for the key when it was HANDED IN at reception to a female working on a laptop at reception desk.

Great location; easy check in,good wifi; Unit was like a home with all necessities; unit was modern and stylish; the restuarant makes good food and the sfaff is overall friendly; the bathrooms are amazing, although there was no bath if you prefer that.

There's a lot of construction, so some parts in the estate arent aesthetically pleasing. Once construction is complete, it will be one of the most beautiful places in the country.

Very dissapointed

The property is well located with a great view from the patio.

We booked this villa specifically for the hot tub. The wood provided was wet, and we struggled the whole weekend to get the hot tub started and generate enough heat to warm up the water without success. The hot tub was an absolute disappointment. The floors were sticky and had a very bad smoke smell. We are highly disappointed in this Villa and the hit tub not working after we bought multiple bags of wood. We still had no success.

Beautifully decorated

For a luxury stay, the kitchen and braai area weren’t fully equipped. Basic things like oven gloves, serving spoons, salads servers, hand towel/drying cloth, braai glove, braai tongs were missing. These are not things one expect to travel with when staying in a fully furnished luxury apartment. In addition to this, there is zero privacy between upstairs and downstairs when both units are occupied. The sound travels radically between the two units if the doors are open even slightly. It made for a very uncomfortable Saturday evening, where neither family downstairs or us upstairs could enjoy their braai areas as the noise and TV transfer was industrial. I would suggest that a solid deck structure be put between the two as the wooden deck is not suitable due to noise transfer in such close proximity. Shower drains need to be cleaned as water doesn’t drain well out of showers. Main bedroom shower almost flooded.

The hot tub was not cleaned over our 2 night stay. I was told it was! I Complained the next day, going back and forth with the front desk saying they did NOT clean until they checked with the staff and the staff confirmed they did not! Was quite unpleasant. Especially since the hot tub was an additional charge I paid for! House bathrooms can do with a scrub and they should replace the towels or at least keep them white and clean.
