Red Tiles Barn

Lovely location, quiet, clean and lovely.

Beautiful location right on some farmland. The bedrooms were spacious, comfortable and clean. Short drive to the small town center. The hosts left fresh scones and milk in the fridge for us as well!

There were a many dead and alive bugs inside and some areas were dusty. The WiFi was also spotty at times.

Lovely two storey stand alone small farm cottage, lots of privacy. Nice views. Was perfect for our long weekend in Somerset. Two bedrooms are upstairs and the bathroom, small kitchen and living room are downstairs. Simple and functional. Easy to find, easy check in. Nice welcome goodies left for us by hosts with tea, milk, local cheese and cake, much appreciated.

Nothing, all was great.

The property was close to our family in Oakhill nearby which was good. The views were spectacular and there was a lovely recommended walk along the river after driving to the centre of Evercreech which was manageable with two small children. The property was self contained with no other properties nearby which was good. On paper, facilities were good. I was pleased the owner came to meet and greet us the first evening we arrived and also we were allowed to arrive before the normal check-in time which was very helpful with the children. Internally beds were clean, comfortable and well dressed and the owners added a cot and high chair to the inventory which was very helpful.

I wondered whether we were the first to rent this property for the new holiday season. When we arrived the Barn was very cold (a slight concern as we had a small baby). We managed to locate the timers as the heating had been turned off and wasn’t set to come on until 4pm. There were some issues with the cooker hood (light and fan did not work) and also the bath seemed poorly sealed and in need of attention. With a crawling six month old and a six year old, my daughter was concerned with the initial cleanliness (underneath cupboards, behind the dresser and the living room rug). There were also lots of wood lice around on the floors. We live in a rural area so are aware of insects but this seemed excessive. We also couldn’t determine the rubbish collection processes and left bags of rubbish divided into recycling, green waste and rubbish.
