About this house rental

Imagine a 110-square-meter, fully equipped wooden house at the end of a cul-de-sac, on the edge of the forest. Celebrate an unforgettable vacation there with friends or family: enjoy drinks and a barbecue on the terrace, play pétanque and relax in a hammock in the garden, and unwind in the cool, peaceful surroundings! Bikes for trips to the Atlantic Ocean (Gurp Beach is 20 minutes away via the bike path through the pine trees), coffee shops, restaurants, a grocery store, and a bakery are just a 3-minute bike ride away, and Soulac, Montalivet, and the small ports of the estuary just a 10-minute drive away—all very close by!

Space, tranquility, coolness, comfort—everything has been designed for a relaxing and convenient stay for large families and groups of friends.

With its four bedrooms and plenty of sleeping arrangements—including provided sheets and new bedding (2 queen-size beds 160x200, 2 triple bunk beds + 1 queen-size sofa bed in the living room), its 2 extendable indoor and outdoor tables seating 8 to 12 people, a large 50m² living area with ceiling fans, a 60m² wooden deck, 3 covered parking spaces, and a 600m² fenced-in garden—there’s plenty of room for everyone.

With its fully equipped open kitchen (dishwasher, electric oven, microwave, Mr. Cuisine food processor, etc.) and a washer and dryer in the garage, it has everything you need to make daily life easier.

There’s also fiber-optic Wi-Fi and two real desks in the bedrooms for those who need to work from home!

For dreamers (and everyone else), a hammock and a starry sky free of light pollution await you in the garden.

Take a good look at the adjacent woods—among the ferns, birches, and oaks, you might spot a deer passing by or a squirrel scampering about, and in any case, you’ll hear nothing but cicadas or birds!

Rest assured, all shops and services are nearby (less than 500 meters) in the village of Grayan, where there’s a small traditional market on Saturday mornings featuring oysters and organic products, and even a festive night market (food trucks, DJ sets, a large communal table, and an outdoor dance floor) on Friday evenings in the summer!

In our garage, 4 adult bikes, 1 teen bike, 1 bike for a child aged 4–7, and 1 bike with training wheels are available for your use.

On foot, forest trails and the town center are easily accessible: La Passion bakery, Spar grocery store (cheese counter, deli, and even seafood on summer weekends), Relax Café (cocktail bar, restaurant, concerts, and mini-golf), restaurants at the Franquette and Familles campgrounds, an ATM, the post office, a package pickup point, a library (free registration), a first-aid clinic, etc.

Beach, sports, forest, and nature—that’s a good summary of Grayan-et-l’Hôpital, with plenty of activities for all ages. Whether you’re surfing or relaxing at Gurp Beach, fishing at the Barreyre ponds, or playing golf at Balata Golf Practice, there’s something for everyone! Nestled in the heart of a pine forest and bordered by the ocean beach, Grayan-et-l'Hôpital is a peaceful place with many trails to explore—whether on foot or by bike—and all the essential services and shops you need!

The Médoc Atlantique region is a land of endless possibilities, opening out onto the ocean within the Médoc Regional Nature Park. Combining varied landscapes—from pine forests to vineyards, including a ribbon of wild beaches, an estuary, marshes, and lakes—its natural environment is diverse and surprisingly reminiscent of another west coast. Not to mention unforgettable lighthouses, including the “king of lighthouses,” the iconic Cordouan. Whether on vacation or for a weekend getaway, this little “Bordeaux California” lets you truly unplug and get back to basics.

By car, you’re 30 minutes from Royan via the ferry (shuttle boat) and 30 minutes from Hourtin - Carcans (France’s largest lake), 40 minutes from the Médoc wine route (St. Estèphe, Pauillac, St. Julien, Margaux), 1 hour from Lacanau (an international surfing spot), 1 hour and 30 minutes from Bordeaux and the Mérignac International Airport, and 2 hours from the Arcachon Bay and the Île d’Oléron.
