    We stayed at KABIN Taka for 6 nights while in Kyoto due to its proximity to some of the main attractions and destinations. We had a ton of luggage by this point, and the room felt just big enough that we could spread out a bit. The pictures on Agoda are quite representative of what you get, which is great because the room was just as clean and cozy as the pictures. We didn't have a view, but in this neighborhood, that's not really a thing. I wouldn't say you are in the heart of any action here. It was a 3-5 block walk to the shopping street or the subway station. The streets around the hotel are super narrow with cars and bikes whizzing past, so maybe consider getting a cab from the metro because the walk was actually just a little too far with all our luggage. Either way we still felt like we were in walking distance of most areas like Pontocho, Gion, even Kiyomizu-dera, which was a trek but a cool walk through the city. The staff were pretty hands-off, just there to greet you as you came in. I will say the vibe of the hotel felt a little more hip and young than we were expecting, which isn't a bad thing since we're young and hip, but I was trying to figure out if this wanted to be a nice hotel or a crash pad for backpackers. It felt somewhere in the middle. You could refresh your own towels at your leisure with a hallway cart, which also had some other free amenities like toothbrushes and combs. They also had a great luggage storage area with locks. No vending machine in the hotel but there was one right outside. This hotel doesn't have breakfast or a cafe, but the other KABIN hotel a few blocks away did. They even had coffee available before 8am, which was a rarity in Japan. We also utilized the coin laundry a few blocks away.

    I stayed in the twin studio with my mom for 3 nights and we really enjoyed our stay. All the basic necessities you might want for a comfortable stay were well thought out. It's a great location---in a quiet side street close to some shopping areas and famous temples, but far enough away that there were no crowds. It's also just up the block from a grocery store and 7-eleven. Would DEFINITELY stay here again or any of their other locations in the future.
