Tekapo1929 - Pioneer Cottage

Perfect location, right in front of the lake and an easy walk to the church. Very friendly staff who offered great help! The cottage is quite old, but it has that cozy, old-school charm. Enough heater and heat pump in the room.

The bathroom was so weird, could barely pass.

For me this cute wee cottage is reminiscent of a quintessential kiwi bach. Cute as a button, scrupulously clean, directly opposite the lake, my 88 year old father and I could not have been more pleased with our choice. Sure there were a few minor things, but I expect this with an older style building, nothing off putting and certainly nothing to complain about. Dad has mobility issues and his only comment was that it would be good to have a handle installed by the toilet so he could support himself when getting up. The manager was an absolute delight and available to help when requested.

It is a good location, and old style cottage which had some quirks. Reasonably comfy beds and cosy vibe with plenty of heating

The owner did apologise with a nice card, but there was a leak in the kitchen tap which the drip in the sink kept us up at night. The bathroom shower was clogged and flooded after 1-2 minutes of use. The place in general just needs some love. It feels like the owners are just doing the bare minimum maintenance and decor wise. The washing machine in the centre of the lounge is a bit weird.
