Bhalance Retreat

We really enjoyed our stay and felt this property was a bit of a hidden gem. The location was excellent — tucked away just outside Padangbai, making it a convenient and peaceful base before or after using the ferry port. Our room was enormous, beautifully appointed, and very comfortable. The grounds were lovely, and overall the property offered great value for money.

The only reason we haven't given a full 5 stars is due to a couple of maintenance issues. We found what appeared to be a significant amount of rat droppings in the room, which was disappointing and impacted our comfort. We also found the water had a very strong sulphur smell. While this may be due to the local water source, it left us feeling as though the water wasn't particularly clean for showering. Aside from these issues, we had a pleasant stay and can see why others enjoy this property. With a little more attention to these areas, it would be an outstanding place to stay.

The isolation and lake view

Food over priced and several times I asked for items they weren’t available, leaving limited choice from the menu. Presentation of food was lovely. Bring some snacks

The location, the configuration of the whole place, the view, the kitchen, the prices, the pool 🤩 The staff was kind and very helpful, and ready to attend to our every need 🙏

The bed mattress was too soft for us, and the pillows were too thick and tight. This resulted in back and neck pain each morning. I understand you can't change mattresses for each customer's preference, but having a couple of sets of smaller pillows would help.

Everything was good.

Just one thing I felt off is sewage in washroom once you start shower or tap water in washbasin. Not sure that bad smell is from water or anything else.
