The Cottage

The location of The Cottage in Rotorua was perfect for us as we needed to be close to Whakarewarewa Forest for the MoonRide Mountain Bike Challenge. It was also close to town, just a few minute's drive away. It was just myself and my 16 year old international student. The Cottage was in a quiet location and there was no road noise at all. The Cottage has a rural feel to it and is a quaint little Cottage with all the little comforts. Outside was chilly but the heat pump keep us warm, and it was lovely to be able to have a real bath, and good soak. The many little 'extra's were very much appreciated. Fresh farm eggs and feijoas were waiting for us, and they had oil, plunger coffee, lavender epsom salts, branded Shampoo, conditioner and bodywash, and other things that you don't get in a Motel or Hotel. I had planned to go into town for some retail therapy on the Saturday, but once I sat on the deck basking in the Autumn sunlight, I just couldn't leave! It was a paradise for me to do me! It even had a washing machine. The hosts have thought of everything and it was just what I needed.

I liked everything about the place. The only thing I would suggest is to have a sign on the garage at the end of the driveway saying 'The Cottage' with an arrow, as it was a bit tricky to know where to go once you pull into the shared driveway. We arrived at night, we were tired and it wasn't obvious to us after driving for nearly 6 hours. I phoned the hostess and she happily told me where to park, and it wasn't a problem at all. Naturally once she told me, it was then obvious!

Lovely little cottage, comfortable, had everything we needed. The host was lovely and acccomodating and the location was great. A nice spot in a quiet area, yet handy enough to the town centre.

Could do with a bit of TLC here and there but nothing deal-breaking.

Rachel was great and checked with us we needed anything. Comfy beds. Had all that was required for self catering. Access to streaming services.

The place was quite old and could do with an update. There is a leak near the washing machine.

Cleanliness, location close to the Redwoods

House was freezing. The heat pump barely put out any warmth. There was no plug to the bath tub. The sheet on the bed was the most uncomfortable thing ever. No warm blankets, no hot water bottles and the blankets provided were thin.
