We stayed here for our daughter’s college graduation and traveled as a multi-generational family. Overall, there were many things we liked about this property. The apartment is spacious and comfortably accommodated our family of 5 for four nights. There were enough beds for everyone, and the large living room with a long sofa provided a nice gathering space. Having two bathrooms was very convenient. The unit was generally clean, the hosts were highly responsive throughout our stay, and getting an Uber to downtown Chicago was easy and convenient. The bedrooms are spacious and each has a skylight - make sure to pack eye masks!
There were also some maintenance and housekeeping issues that future guests should be aware of. Several light bulbs were burned out during our stay (the host quickly brought over new bulbs). The washing machine was extremely dirty, with visible mold buildup around the gasket and the detergent reservoir, and a cigaret lighter inside the machine. When we attempted to clean it and run a cleaning cycle, we discovered that the machine leaked and produced a significant amount of dirt and debris. Because of this, we were unable to do laundry. The bedding had a noticeable odor, and we would have appreciated additional towels given that the washer was not usable. The most significant issue occurred on the morning of checkout. While our reservation was still active and well before the stated checkout time, an individual who was not part of our group came to our door, kicked and banged on it, claimed ownership of the property, stated that we would be thrown out, and yelled at us. My 82 year old parents were present and were deeply disturbed by the encounter. To the hosts’ credit, they responded quickly after being notified, apologized repeatedly, identified the individual as a family member of a resident in the building, and communicated professionally and respectfully. The host later processed a one night cost refund (minus fees and taxes) to us. While the confrontation itself was upsetting for an important family trip, we appreciate how the host handled it.

Superb apartment set in the medical district. Easy less than 10 minute walk to the Weston L train station. Then a further 10-15 mins on the train to the central Loop area. Neighbourhood felt safe at all times that we were walking around. The neighbourhood was quiet at night. You do not hear any road noise. Or at least we didn’t. Parking was straightforward less than a 1 minute walk from the apartment. Just watch out for the road cleaning days and be sure to move your car and double check the signage on cleaning days. All bedrooms were excellent The coffee pods were highly appreciated. Not many eating or drinking places nearby, but plenty of options if you want a quick drive or trip of the metro. Property was very clean. WiFi was excellent. Communications from the host before and during the say were excellent. One very minor issue was sorted straight away after we arrived. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again some day, and would recommend it to others, also without hesitation. The value is good compared to staying in The Loop, epically if you are a larger group / family.

The apartment looks as advertised in the photos and is generally acceptable. From a broad perspective, the space is okay and functional. However, it lacks attention to detail, which became noticeable once we settled in. Overall, the stay was adequate but no where close to "exceptional" as advertised. Attention to cleanliness, detail, and a few functional improvements would make a meaningful difference in the guest experience.
Most of the property appears to be repaired and decorated at a DIY level. While this is not necessarily a problem on its own, it contributes to an overall feeling that finishes and maintenance were done quickly/cheaply rather than thoughtfully. Cleanliness was the biggest concern. While things may appear clean at first glance, a closer look raises questions. As shown in the photos, dryer/washer, ac vents and surfaces such as the fridge were visibly dirty. These are typically easy areas to clean, and when they are overlooked, it often signals that cleaning is not being done thoroughly. A few additional notes for future guests: - The apartment is accessed by two very steep staircases. The exterior stairs are metal and were slippery during snowy/icy conditions, which could be a concern. The interior stairs are also quite steep, and narrow making it challenging to carry luggage up and down, though they are manageable for daily use once settled. - The innermost bedroom tends to get significantly warmer than the rest of the apartment, likely due to its proximity to the furnace. It was difficult to find a temperature setting that was comfortable for everyone throughout the unit. - The location is about 10 to 15 minutes away from downtown by car. Without a car, it is a bit more challenging to get to downtown. #7 CTA bus stops literally by the entrance, but it really doesn't get anywhere close to downtown without at least 1 transfer. The best bet is the Blue line, which is about 12 to 15 min walk from the apartment, then it would take 20 to 30 minutes from there depending on the final destination.
