Everything was good nothing to complain about

The location is unbeatable. The size of the flat is really good for families. Big rooms. Closed to lots of restos and shops, safe street. The host seems very nice. It was a little weird about paying thru a different link for the city tax but it was all good. The kitchen has enough equipments as well.

To be honest, it could’ve been a comfortable stay if not for the noise from the neighbors playing like disco music. We almost thought that we were beside a bar. The neighbors upstairs can be heard too. We had really poor quality of sleep most nights because the trash is being picked up midnight or 1 in the morning. The soundproofing was not that good but that’s one disadvantage when you are within the city center. The building is old, maybe that’s why the soundproofing was not enough. We stayed for a week so it really affected our sleep.

The location was great- within walking distance to shops, restaurants and sites.

We had already paid in full for our stay, but as we were boarding the train from Verona to Bologna, I realized I had never received access instructions. I emailed the host and asked him to send directions for getting into the unit. He told me I needed to pay the city tax first, and only then would he send instructions. It was stressful — I had to sign up for PayPal, send the payment, and then send a screenshot before he finally sent a video with the access codes. I asked if he could just send written instructions instead, since there were two codes I needed to note down from the video, but I never heard back. We had just come from two other properties where payment was simply collected at checkout, so this felt a bit like being held hostage for the access codes — even though we had already paid the full amount for the stay in advance. Not a great start. The apartment itself was just okay. The furnishings were minimal, there was very little natural light, and the bathroom was quite dark. The beds were uncomfortable. The kitchen was poorly stocked, and there was no welcome note or instructions of any kind. A dingy sponge had been left in the sink, along with a Nespresso machine with a couple of stray pods that seemed to belong to a previous guest. The towels were thin, and there was nowhere to set down toiletries in the bathroom. The low point was a band that played literally all day into the evening. We initially thought the noise was coming from the apartment above us, but it turned out there was a basement venue below. I messaged the host at 10pm to ask when it would end. He said he was trying to reach them but could not. The music finally stopped just before 11pm. Communication from the host throughout the stay was poor. After two wonderful experiences elsewhere on this trip, this one was a letdown. On the plus side, the apartment was air conditioned. I do not write reviews often, and I do not enjoy leaving negative ones, but I think future guests deserve to know.
