Guesthouse Hotel My Home

I always like coming to this hotel, the fact that I have stayed here multiple times when visiting Prizren should say enough. Amazing hosts with a pleasant outdoor cafe with music, coffee, beer, rakia and more. You can meet many people at the cafe. The views are beautiful. It is also a short walk from great restaurants and most attractions in Prizren. If you want the privacy of a hotel but still be able to socialize a bit, caring hosts, this is the place to stay.

Great vibes, located behind the church where no cars pass. Nice terrace to enjoy the views. Served by the owner. I went for a night but end up staying 2!

I am smiling writing this review as I thought I was the only traveller treated like family by Nue and Linda but now I realise almost everyone else feels like they were treated like family too. What a gem of a place - I gasped when I saw the spectacular mountain/mosque/fortress views from my top-floor patio. My enormous room had every convenience a famiy would need - a stove, washing machine, sink, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer - plus the most adorable. flower-filled patio that I'm sad to say I never sat on as it was way more fun sitting downstairs in the hotel's bar chatting to the owners, their friends (shoutout to Fate!) and family members. As a solo traveller, life of the road can get lonely without anyone to share it with, but here everyone is treated with warmth and kindness. Even travellers not staying at the hotel kept coming back for the ice cold beers, homemade rakia and lively chat night after night. Nue and Linda and are incredible hosts - they remember everyone's name and always welcomed me home every evening. I'm from South Africa so it was lovely discussing what living in Mozambique was like for them and their delightful children, who are also great conversationalists. I never expected to get to know a Kosovan family as part of my trip - what a lovely experience - and really appreciated their recommendations of where to eat or have a coffee. Prizren is absolutely delightful - a gushing stream runs through it and the Ottoman architecture is just so spectacular. It's up there with Dubrovnik and Sarajevo as my favourire Balkan cities and Hotel My Home is by far the best place I've ever stayed in former Yugoslavia. The town gets lively at night, but Hotel My Home is down a quiet backstreet so you get the best of both worlds. I dislike noisy bars but MoZamBik, set on an open-air patio, is the perfect place to chill as it's 'noisy' with conversation, not blaring music.

Having to leave! If you have a heavy suitcase be aware that the stairs are very narrow - Nue will carry your suitcase for you, however, you only need ask (I didn't even need to ask actually, Nue just did it automatically, but just be aware that he is VERY happy to do this so don't struggle with your case yourself!)
