Situated close to the ski resorts, staff are very friendly and helpful, amenities are simple but good. would definitely return in the future

Excellent host. Special little place with a boutique feel. Wonderful stay if you’re looking for something unique and cultural. Location is good but best to rent a car to get around easily in Hakuba.

Upon arriving at Hakuba Goryu Bus Station, I realized that my email to the hotel, sent just 20 minutes prior, had gone unanswered. In hindsight, contacting them at least a day in advance would have been wiser. When I attempted to call, I was met with an unhelpful automated system. Consequently, we trudged through the snow, relying on Google Maps to find our way, and arrived at the hotel cold, wet, and exhausted. The breakfast was delightful, with generous portions. Our room was cozy, though we noticed stained teacups and dusty shelves. Remember to bring your own cotton pads, cotton buds and shower cap as they do not provide. The hotel’s policy of not offering room cleaning during the stay wasn’t communicated on their website, which was disappointing. I would have made a more informed decision. For laundry, a 5 kg wash cost 300 yen, and drying was 100 yen. Despite loading the dryer with less than half its capacity, our clothes remained damp. The onsen was a highlight; however, providing water in the facility would be beneficial, as the heat can be dehydrating. The hotel’s remote location meant amenities were scarce nearby. Thankfully, Kenji-san kindly drove us to a supermarket for supplies, sparing us from walking in the cold. Chika-san was also helpful, arranging snowboarding lessons and assisting in contacting JAL to retrieve a lost item. On our final night, I requested a transfer to the bus stop. Chika-san pointed out on a map that it was only a five-minute walk away. I expressed my concerns, recalling the challenging trek from the bus stop upon arrival and the difficulty of carrying luggage through snow. Fortunately, Kenji-san stepped in and offered assistance. Overall, it was a memorable trip, but there’s room for improvement.
