Fortuna Retreat

The staff at Fortuna Retreat were absolutely amazing and accommodating throughout my stay, especially with a few hiccups involving my excursions. Alfonso and his team made everything easy, from a smooth check-in and great restaurant recommendations to coordinating my excursions and arranging transportation for my arrival and departure. The excursions were a 10/10—I had so much fun! I especially appreciated their flexibility on checkout day. Since I had an early morning excursion, they offered me extra time afterward to shower and get ready before heading to my next hotel closer to the airport. That thoughtful gesture made my travel day so much easier. Breakfast at the Oasis was delicious, with the added bonus of watching birds fly through the surrounding forest. I’m so glad I chose the breakfast package—it was a relaxing, convenient way to start each morning. Thank you, Alfonso and the entire team, for making my stay so memorable. I would absolutely stay here again when I return to Costa Rica!

The only downsides were the weather and bugs, which come with being in a tropical destination and are beyond the staff’s control. The property itself was beautiful, and I had an amazing stay!

Absolutely amazing. Everything. Private pool, volcano view, helpful staff, parking in the shade, breakfast near wildlife…

No such thing.

We stayed for 3 nights and had a wonderful experience overall. The hotel is an amazing facility : very clean, modern, beautifully designed, and extremely well maintained. It truly feels like a genuine boutique hotel, with a lot of attention to detail. The hotel is surrounded by beautiful greenery, with a lovely garden right in the middle that creates a very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. And the view of the volcano is absolutely breathtaking, definitely one of the highlights of the stay. The staff were exceptionally welcoming, kind, and helpful throughout our stay. The parking is also a great advantage: the spots are safe, secure, and located right next to the hotel, which was very convenient.

Breakfast is not served at the hotel itself but at another hotel about a 5 minute walk away. Sadly, the quality and setting of the breakfast do not match the standards of the hotel we stayed in. The selection was very basic and the quality rather mediocre, which is a real shame given how excellent everything else was.

It’s very clean - good location - about $3 in an Uber to get into the town. The faculties were good - although the pool is tiny. The staff super friendly

So the pics would lead you to believe it’s a jungle oasis - it isn’t. It’s on a road and there are building works going on in ear shot.
